Beauden John Barrett is a New Zealand rugby union player. He plays at the First Five-Eighth position and fullback.
In 2016 and 2017, he won the World Rugby Player of the Year award. He also won the Sportsperson of the Year Award in the Taranaki Sports Awards in 2013, 2016, and 2019.
Barrett holds the world record for consecutive wins since his first test. He won his 50th cap in the 2017 Test match against Samoa.

Beauden Barrett Was Born in 1991
He was born in New Plymouth on May 27, 1991, to parents Robyn and Kevin Barrett. Barrett grew up on a farm in Pungarehu, a small town in South Taranaki near Opunake, with his seven siblings.
Barrett had four three sisters and four brothers, including Kane, a former Blues representative and Taranaki captain and current All Blacks, Scott and Jordie. When he was eight years old, he spent a year in Ireland.
2. Barrett Education
Barrett started formal education by attending St. Fiach’s National School in Ballinacree, where he and his brother Kane learned how to play Gaelic football. He started playing for Rahotu and Coastal Rugby clubs throughout his early childhood.
He also played at Francis Douglas Memorial College in New Plymouth, together with All-Black teammate Liam Coltman, where he excelled in its XV.
Barrett came to the national selector’s attention at 19 after being selected in the New Zealand Sevens team for the final two legs of the 2010 IRB Sevens World Series in England and Scotland and debuted for Taranaki in the ITM Cup against Northland.
3. Barrett Started His Early Professional Career in Taranaki
In the 2010 ITM Cup competition, Barrett made his debut for Taranaki. He came as a replacement against Northland. In 2011 he was crowned Taranaki’s best back of the year for his efforts.
Barrett made an impression in his opening season for the province, especially with his ability to attack the line and create space which saw him named the most promising player of the year. He caught the eyes of the coaches after a great performance against Manawatu.
With the season over at Taranaki, he joined the Hurricanes in 2011 and joined Hurricanes on a 2011 tour to South Africa, where he saw time off the bench, receiving his first four Hurricanes caps. Barrett made his debut in a 50-47 win over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
In his second season with the Taranaki squad for the 2011 ITM Cup, he scored 90 points for the season. Barrett finished a respectable third placing in the ITM Cup and was instrumental in securing his side the Ranfurly Shield off Southland.
4. Barrett Playing Style
He is known for his speed and quickness. Barrett clocked in an All Blacks record 4:18 in the infamous Bronco fitness test requiring players to run 20, 40, and 60 meters and back, five times over a total distance of 1.2 kilometers as fast as possible. It’s believed to be one of the best indicators of aerobic endurance.
5. Barrett Won the World Rugby Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017

Barrett scored the most individual points in the 2016 season with 223 and was the only player in the 2016 Super Rugby season to surpass 200 points.
He won the award for World Rugby Player of the Year later in the year, beating teammate Dane Coles to the award and becoming the next ALL Blacks player after Dan Carter to win that award.
Barrett was awarded World Rugby Player of the Year for the second time in 2017. He beat his teammate Rieko Loane to the award, joining former teammates Richie McCaw and Dan Carter to become the third player to win the award on more than one occasion.
6. Barrett Was a Key Member of the 2015 Rugby World Cup
In 2015, All Black Head Coach Steve Hansen selected Barrett for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He started in one fixture against Namibia and came off the bench to cover wing and fullback in the rest.
Barrett scored for All Black in the final try in the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final match against Australia, having been substituted for the injured Nehe Milner Skudder.
7. Barrett Made his Debut for All Blacks in 2012
All Black is the New Zealand national rugby union team representing New Zealand in the men’s international rugby union. Barrett was named in the All Blacks squad for the Irish tour of New Zealand in June 2012.
His test debut in the All Blacks was memorable; he came off the bench after 24 minutes and helped the All Blacks contribute 9 points to a record 60-0 win over the Irish. In 2012 he played five tests.
In 2013 he was named in the All-Black squad for the French tour of New Zealand. He was a key player, playing in the historic 30-0 victory over France, scoring his first test try. The score was voted International Rugby Player’s Association’s Try of the Year for 2013.
Barrett got the chance to start in the All Blacks No. 10 jersey for the first time in his career in September 2014. He played against Argentina at McLean Park in Napier.
In 2015, he was chosen for the 2015 Rugby World Cup; he started in one fixture against Namibia and came off the bench to cover wing and full back in the rest. He scored the final try in the 2015 Rugby World Cup final match against Australia.
He continues to represent All Blacks in international games. He played in 2016, 2017 and 2019 Rugby World Cup.
8. Barrett Plays Golf
He is a very keen and outstanding golfer. He plates left-handed and has got his handicap down to five.
Barrett had holes in one at the Steyn City Golf Course near Johannesburg and another at Opunake Golf Club in Taranaki.
Before his wedding in 2019, he prepared by playing golf with New Zealand’s US Open winner Michael Campbell.
9. Barrett Started His First Super Rugby Match in 2012
In 2012, Barrett began with his first Super Rugby match-day start with the Hurricanes against the Stormers. He produced a man-of-the-match performance during a 39-26 loss.
In the 2014 Super Rugby season, Barrett had already scored 100 points. He played for the Hurricanes and finished the season, scoring 209 points.
10. Barrett is Married to Hannah Laity
Barrett proposed to his longtime partner Hannah laity in 2018. In 2019 before his wedding, he prepared by playing golf with New Zealand’s US Open winner Michael Campbell.
Barrett and Hannah Laity got married in 2019. They tied a knot in a private ceremony on Rakino Island and have two children together.
