Top 10 Facts about the Kane Williamson

Williamson, Kane Kane Williamson, the new face of New Zealand cricket, is one of the sport’s brightest long term future career. Williamson is leaving no room for doubt in his career to show what he is made of, with legends like Allan Border putting him ahead of the likes of AB De Villiers and Steve Smith.

Countless people predicted Kane Williamson, then 19, would become New Zealand’s captain. Williamson, 26, is on the verge of becoming a Kiwi batting legend. There have been others, such as Martin Crowe and Richard Hadlee, but Williamson’s demeanour is much more romantic.

He does not require the spotlight and is not flamboyant. He simply does his job and lives his life in the most uncomplicated way possible. Here are some fascinating facts about Kane Williamson: The Gritty Black Cap.

In the second test match at the WACA, the 25-year-old phenom managed to score a fantastic 166 against the Aussies. Williamson is well-known for his game strategy and patience, but little is known about the player’s personal life.

Let’s look at some Kane Williamson facts you probably didn’t know:

Williamson was an exceptionally bright child who excelled at Tauranga Boys’ College. He was elected as the college’s ‘Head Prefect’ in his final year. His coach, Josh Syms, praised his methodical approach to just about everything.

In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, he stated, “He had a thirst to be phenomenal, but not at the expense of anyone else.”  ‘It was more of a case of ‘this is what I enjoy, this is what I’m good at, so I’m going to do it.’  He’s calculated; he reduces things to nuts and bolts.

He’ll take the emotion out of it and ask, ‘What will happen if I do this?’ He identifies the problem and proposes a solution. He predicts what will happen.”
Who would have guessed that a Head Prefect would be the country’s next big thing?
