Trent Alexander Boult is a New Zealand international cricketer who plays as a bowler for northern districts in New Zealand’s domestic cricket and New Zealand internationally.
However, Trent is a left-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman and he made his debut for New Zealand in December 2011 and his one-day international debut the following July.
He was the joint leading wicket-taker at the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Furthermore, in November 2018 he became the third bowler for New Zealand to take a hat trick in ODIs while in June 2019 he became the first bowler for New Zealand to take a hat trick in the Cricket World Cup.

1. Trent Boult was part of the Golden Batch of Young Cricketers in 2008
Trent was a part of the golden batch of young cricketers who played the Under-19 World Cup in 2008.
This was a particularly impressive batch with future international cricketers like Philip Hughes, Josh Hazlewood, Steven Smith, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Dinesh Chandimal, Darren Bravo, Wayne Parnell, Steven Finn, Chris Woakes, and Rubel Hossain were all playing in the tournament.
Along with Trent New Zealand’s batch of cricketers included Tim Southee, Kane Williamson, Corey Anderson, and Hamish Rutherford.
Trent and Tim first formed their lethal opening partnership in this tournament which was a sign of things to come.
2. He is a Good Catcher
Despite Trent coming from a country that has traditionally produced outstanding fielders and despite sharing the dressing room with phenomenal fielders like Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill Trent is perhaps one of the best catchers in New Zealand along with Kane Williamson.
The duo one-ups each other on a regular basis if one hangs to a blinder the other finds a way to take a stunning catch as well.
3. Trent Boult was selected for the New Zealand squad for the One-Day series against Australia at the Age of 19
On 21st January 2009, Trent was selected for the New Zealand squad for the one-day series against Australia at just 19 years of age.
However, Trent only managed to play in the warm-up game against Prime Minister XI and went wicket less off seven overs.
During the tour, Trent was clocked as the fastest bowler touring with New Zealand with the highest speed of 143.3km/h.
4. He made his Test Debut in the 2011-12 Season
Trent made his test debut in the 2011-12 season in the Second Test against Australia in Hobart in a match won by New Zealand by 7 runs, New Zealand’s first test win in Australia since 1985 and their first test win over Australia since 1993.
He took four wickets in the match additionally scoring 21 runs in a tenth wicket partnership with Chris Martin in the second innings.
5. Trent Boult’s Older brother is also a Cricketer
Trent is the younger brother of Jono Boult who also plays for the domestic side Northern Districts.
However, Jono is older by around three years and unlike the pace bowling, Trent is a spinning all-rounder.

6. His partnership with Tim Southee is considered Lethal

Among all New Zealand bowlers with at least 100 Test wickets, Trent ranks fourth on the all-time list in terms of both average and strike rate.
While Richard Hadlee is comfortably ahead on both Trent’s average of 28.75 puts him below Bruce Taylor at 26.60 while his strike rate of 58.1 is better than that of Taylor at 57 but behind his teammate Neil Wagner at 54.1.
However, Trent can statistically be considered New Zealand’s best bowler for nearly a decade.
8. He is a Superb Fielder
Despite being a fast bowler Trent is also a superb fielder and an amazing athlete both on and off the field. He is one the best fielders in the Kiwi team along with Williamson and Guptill having 89 international catches to his name.
9. Trent Boult is a World Cup Star
Along with Mitchell Starc Trent was the joint highest wicket-taker in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
However, both Mitchell Starc and Trent ended with 22 wickets but Starc had a better bowling average.
Moreover, also in 2019, World Cup Trent was the second-highest wicket-taker for the Kiwis with 17 scalps.
10. He is a Good No.11 Batsman
While Trent may not be known for his batting talent he has proven that he is a good enough No 11 batsman.
His math-winning 127-run partnership with BJ Watling against Bangladesh in 2013, scouring his maiden test half-century, proves that he is a capable batsman. With 42 not outs in tests he has a healthy 15.61 test batting average.
