Fox was born Kerry Lauren Fox on July 30, 1966, in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand, in a well-up family and grew up along with her family members and relatives.

She graduated from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School with a Diploma in Acting in1987. She gradually received early fame as a theatre artist due to her impressive work in numerous plays as well as dramas.
