Six founded his own production company, Six Entertainment, with his sister Ilona, in 2002. Six Entertainment Company, formerly known as Six Entertainment, is an independent film production company founded by filmmaker Tom Six and film producer Ilona Six.

The company has produced several films over the years. After beginning a career as one of the pioneer directors of the reality television show Big Brother, Tom Six co-established Six Entertainment with former law student Ilona Six in 2002.

3. He directed the popular Dutch reality show Big Brother

He rose to prominence as the creator and director of the popular Dutch reality show Big Brother, which went global and inspired multiple sequels.

Big Brother is the Dutch version of the international reality television franchise Big Brother. It invented the format in which participants reside in a remote house and attempt to escape being evicted by viewers to earn a prize in the end.

Six’s film The Human Centipede was a triumph. Despite varied reviews and reactions, The Human Centipede received worldwide attention. The success of the first film provided Six the freedom he needed to embark on a sequel, The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence), which eventually led to a trilogy.

He made the first film to familiarize audiences with the concept of the Human Centipede. The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence), the final film in the Human Centipede series, was released on May 22, 2015.

5. Six won a Festival Trophy for Best Picture at Screamfest

For The Human Centipede, Six received the Festival Trophy for Best Picture at Screamfest in 2009. (First Sequence). Filmmakers Rachel Belofsky and Ross Martin established the Screamfest Horror Film Festival in August 2001.

It takes place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Los Angeles, California, over ten days in October. Independent horror filmmakers from the US and abroad present and premiere new material during Screamfest.

6. He won the Jury Prize for Horror at the Austin Fantastic Fest

Six won the Jury Prize for Horror at the Austin Fantastic Fest for The Human Centipede (First Sequence). Films of the horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, Asian, and cult genres are the festival’s main focus.

The festival, which takes place in September at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, features a large number of well-known and lesser-known writers, filmmakers, and actors over eight days on eight screens.

This festival’s inclusion of “hidden screenings” is a noteworthy aspect. The film’s plot is frequently a surprise to the audience until they are seated, just before the showing starts.

Tom refers to how he came up with the idea of stitching a paedophile’s mouth to a fat truck driver’s anus, hence why he approves of the centipede idea being used on the prisoners.

He says it began all with a very sick joke that he made with friends. When watching television or something and there was a child molester or something he’d say, “Oh they should stitch his mouth to the ass of a very, very fat truck driver, as punishment.”

And everyone said that was a horrible idea, and of course, it was a very horrible idea, and he thought that would make a great basic idea for a horror film. So that’s how it all began and then of course he began to draw how must a situation like that look.

9. He believes that one can best learn filmmaking by watching films

During a past event when he was asked which school he attended, he claimed to have attended the New York Film Academy in Amsterdam for a short course.

He further adds that he doesn’t believe in school. And he thinks filmmaking can be learned best by watching films.

10. Six is currently trying to distribute the film, The Onania Club

The satirical psychological horror movie The Onania Club, originally scheduled for release in 2017 but then postponed to 2019 and presently has no release date, is currently being distributed by Six.

He had already addressed the subject and stated that “great art takes time.” However, after the distributor opted not to release it, Six acknowledged there had been problems with getting it released in 2021.

As a result, Six had to appeal for help from the fans to get it released.
