Namibia is a country located in South West Africa. It has famous singers in their time like Gazza, who grew up as a lover of soccer and also won 10 musical awards in one year – six Sanlam NBC Music Awards

Others are Lady May, Jackson Kaujeua, Top Cheri, Young T Wokongh, Stefan Ludik, Michael Pulse, Sunny Boy, Stanzo, and The Big Dogg.

1. Gazza

Born in Oshikuku on March 10, 1977, Gazza grew up as a soccer lover, he nicknamed himself Gazza after famous English soccer player Paul Gascoigne.

After he completed his high school level, he joined Boston Business College in cape town, South Africa to study marketing, where he advanced his love for Kwaito music.

His music can be classified or defined as a mix of several inspirations namely kwaito, dancehall, reggae, and hip hop. The content of the songs was all about township life.

He explored the United States and Canada, acting in Canada and shooting in his certainty TV show in New York and Los Angeles as well as a music video called Wambo in New York.

Due to this, he made a record of being the first Namibian to shoot a video and reality show in America.

He won an award for best Kwaito Music Video at the Channel O Spirit of Africa Music Awards held in Johannesburg. JCC Namibia also privileged him with the most unresolved young Namibian Award just after his return from South Africa.

His 2005 album was reserved for 10 musical awards in one year – six Sanlam NBC Music Awards, three Namibia music awards, and the best performance award by the city of Windhoek in 2006. And this was the greatest in a Namibian singer reserved within a year.

2. Lady May

She was born Martha Namundjebo, on December 20,  1986. In 2004 is when she came to fame  4 with the release of her first album Kamali which won her,  the first award at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards.

She is a very famous singer, who began a musical journey at a very young, 6 years old. She keeps the record as she has gotten the rewards with her very first release of the album.

The album or the very first album that she released was in her teenage period, That is in 2004. And the album made her the very best artist lady in Namibia.

3. Jackson Kaujeua

He was born on July 3, 1953, and he later died on May 27, 2010.

He was a Namibian musician, composer, gospel singer, and veteran of the Namibian struggle for independence.

4. Top Cheri

Multi-award-winning hip-hop star Top Cheri is without a doubt one of Namibia’s most sought-after female musicians. She has been in the entertainment industry for several years and has become a household name with a legion of fans.

She is always happy about her success in the music journey all thought out. She is always great full to all the listeners and the fans who love her music and the supporters of the music that she releases.

But due to her long-time depression, she opened it up to the fans about it and said about the end of the era of producing music.

She felt so grateful after the release of the second album and reserved several rewards, for the hits of the second album that she had released.

Monica Phineas is her official name,  she is commonly known as Top Cheri, she was born in 1991.

5. Young T Wokongh

He is one of the most sought-after rappers, and his music has been enjoyed by many people over many years as he keeps on raising.

 Every music or record that he releases hits throughout the year and it becomes the best music in the country. It attracts many listeners and followers

6. Stefan Ludik

He is a Namibian musician, television, personality, and actor from Wind Hoek city. He was born on April 5, 1981. He was the first contestant to represent Namibian in the reality television program Big Brother Africa (BBA). He is also a popular Afrikaans singer and actor.

In 2005, he released his debut album, which the album that he had released it hit more views and fans. Due to this, he was nominated for a Eurovision music award.

7. Micheal Pulse

He began his journey of music or career music in the Jazz genre, but later he shifted to old-school rhythm ‘n’ blues after the realized of his heart and soul belonged.

He performed various songs which had various titles such as relationship, faith, family, and societal problems.

This complex topic in t his song made many people or individuals not only in Namibia hard to ignore his music.

8. Suuny Boy

He was born on March 13, 1983.

His music contains a lot of stories and a great ability to tell more stories, this means that his music or songs contain a lot of the contents in it.

More of the ingredients in his lyrics, makes Sunny Boy a well-known name in Namibia. He executes a product of music known as hika, an exciting fusion of hip-hop and kwaito, and had his first hit single in 2005.

He had that spirit of singing and performing songs in his blood since his younghood times. He had also once acted as the backup of Gazza and The Dogg.

9. Stanzo

He is a young rapper, director, visual artist, and producer. In the year 2016 is when this young singer released his first official single.  He has been interested in the field of music since a young age, music has been part of his life since the time that he was very young or we can say since his childhood stage to date.

He has been releasing songs and music which are related to his life experience. He has also worked twice with the popular South African artist by the name of Cassper Nyovest and has his eye on breaking into the film albums arena in Namibia.

10. The Dogg

His official names are Martin Morocky, he was born on August 19,  1969. He begun sing most of the gospel across most churches at an early age.

He is a Namibian artist, he loves to give out the message of real life through his songs and lyrics.  He is an award-winning artist and businessman and he has also his own record label called Mshasho Productions.

He is one of Namibia’s best-selling artists. He has performed throughout Africa as well as in England, Canada, and France. He has collaborated with many successful African musicians.
