He was born on 30th November 1978 in Yangon, Rangoon as Pyay Ti Oo, to TiTi and her physician husband, Dr Tin Maung Oo. This makes him 43 years in the present day.
The middle child of three siblings, he has one elder sister, Swe Ti Oo and one younger sister, Ngwe Ti Oo. His family moved to Mokpalin after his birth. His nickname is Pyay Gyi. He has Burmese citizenship.
In addition to his acting career, Pyay Ti Oo also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
2. He got his first break in 1999
Pyay Ti Oo started acting when he was a student. He got his first break in 1999 when he appeared in the program “Myanmar Language” on Myanmar Radio and television. His first film was Yan Kyway in which he appeared as a supporting actor.
His most successful movies produced in 2009 were Chit-pan wah, Cho Lein (Artificial treat), Yin-Bat Chin A-Nyi, Kyama Pakhon Hma Leikpya Lay Dwe Na Khe Bude. Pyay Ti Oo acted in six films and many Tv advertisements in 2009.
3. Pyay Ti Oo is a four-time Academy award winner
He is a four-time Myanmar motion picture Academy Award-winning film actor and advertising model in Myanmar. Pyay Ti Oo won the 2010 Best Lead Actor Award ceremony on 7 February 2012.
He won the Academy Award for his performance in the film Adam, Eve and Datsa. His role “Min Htin Si” in the movie is kind of villain.
4. He was detained after participating in a non-government movement

In 2011, the military overthrew an elected government led by Aung San Suu Kuji on February 1st triggering protests and turmoil that unfolded for a longer period. In the early days of the protests, huge crowds gathered in cities and towns with many actors and singers using social media to voice their support and some speaking at rallies.
Among those who took part were high-profile actor couple Pyay Ti Oo and Eaindra Kyaw Zin, who was arrested and charged under a section of the penal code that outlaws the spreading of dissent.
In 2021, Myanmar coup d’e̕ tat, Pyay Ti Oo participated in the anti-coup movement by attending anti-government rallies and denouncing the coup through social media. He joined the “We want Justice” three-finger salute movement.
The movement was launched on social media and many celebrities joined. On February 17, 2021, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Pyay Ti Oo along with those other several celebrities for encouraging civil servants to join the ongoing civil disobedient movement.
On 9 April 2021, Pyay Ti Oo and his wife Eaindra Kyaw Zin surrendered to the police. They were released on March 2, 2022.
5. Pyay Ti Oo Founded the Pyay Ti Oo Education Foundation
Pyay Ti Oo founded the “Pyay Ti Oo Education Foundation” with a seed investment of ($10,000)10 million Kyats. He is the CEO of the foundation which provides scholarships to economically disadvantaged students who have been accepted into medical school.
Outstanding students who qualify to study at medical universities but cannot afford the tuition are eligible to apply for a grant from this foundation. Each student will receive K 50000 a month for the duration of their studies but must adhere to certain rules and regulations.
Students who take up the scholarship are required to stay and work in Myanmar for five years after completing their degrees. They are also not permitted to leave the country or marry while still studying. Poor grades and attendance records are also grounds for termination of support.
6. He donated all his artist fees for a fundraising event
Pyay Ti Oo Education Foundation required funds to stay afloat back in 2011. For fundraising, Pyay Ti Oo and his fellow artists made Pyay Ti Oo Foundation Fund-raising concert on 4 December 2011 at Thuwuma Indoor Stadium, Yangon.
They produced two videos of that and donated all their artist fees to the foundation.
7. He would have become an engineer in place of acting
Pyay Ti Oo has said that if he were not involved in the entertainment industry, he would have become an engineer. This comes without any surprise since he graduated from Pyay Technological university with a B.E degree in Civil Engineering.
He however chose to be involved in the showbiz scene more which in return turned out to be one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
