1. She Comes From A Wealthy And Renowned Family
Eaindra Kyaw Zin comes from a wealthy family in Yangon, the youngest child of Mya Thidy and Kyaw Zin. She is the granddaughter of Bo Zeya, one of the Thirty Comrades who founded the modern Burmese Army, niece of Dagon Taya, writer and cousin of singer Haym Ne Win and singer and movie star Yaza Ne Win.
She graduated from Yangon High School Dagon 1. She holds a B.Sc. degree in chemistry. She also has two awards so far from the Myanmar Motion Picture Academy under her belt.

The famous actress was arrested and jailed for anti-regime activities in early April and is currently in Yangon’s Insein Prison, alongside thousands of other political prisoners.
She won the Seymour Cassel Best Performance Award for the melodrama “What Happened to the Wolf?” The movie is about two women who meet and fall in love while patients at a hospital for the terminally ill, with Eaindra Kyaw Zin and fellow Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Award winner Paing Phyoe Thu playing the women.
Deborah Kara Unger, a Canadian and Award presenter and the Advisory Board Jury member, broke in tears as she announced the Award, hoping that this reaches her.

Her first appearance into the entertainment industry was in a local beauty contest. She won the Miss Kokkine contest in 1996, and then went on to win Miss Christmas that same year. Later, she became an actor in TV series such as Loving Editor (Chit Thaw Editor) and Ah Hnine Mae.
Her stardom came in Ah Hnine Mae TV series with a character called Po Tay. For the next two years she appeared in magazines and modeling shows.
In 2000, she scored her big break as an actress in the film Pyaw Lai Kya Ya Aung (Let’s Have Great Fun) as the lead actress. She was nominated as best lead actress at Tha-Mee-Shin Film for 2000 Academy.

Eaindra Kyaw Zin is a heroine in her country as one of the highest-profile supporters of Myanmar’s Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). She paid the heavy price when she was arrested along with her husband Pyay Ti Oo, who is also a famous actor.
The couple, reputedly the highest-paid actors in Myanmar, joined street protests demanding a return to democracy following the junta’s February 1 coup. They urged civil servants to refuse to work for the regime and join the CDM. They are currently serving a jail-term.

Though currently housed in the most notorious prison serving a jail term, Myanmar actress Eaindra Kyaw Zin won the world premier Award for best performance from the film “What happened to the wolf?” at Oldenburg International Festival.
This is the first time Myanmar actress won the international premiere Award, nevertheless, she could not attend the festival in person to receive the Best Performance Award.
Eaindra was one of main performers at the film, starring along with Piang Phyo Thu whose husband is director of the film Na Gyi, and all of the crew and cast in the film are currently in hiding, on the run from the military junta who took power from the people in Feb.
9. They Sacrificed To Be In Prison To protect Their Children
Together with her husband Pyay Ti Oo, who is also a famous actor, Eaindra was arrested because of their political activism and advocacy to return power to the people.
The couple has two children. The military junta threatened to harm the family while the couple were in hiding. They forcibly came out of their hiding to protect the family and faced arrest. Currently, they are detained at Insein prison in Yangon.

The film is known as “What Happened to the Wolf?” is a touching melodrama about a gay couple who met at a hospital for the terminally ill. The LGBT issue is still very radical in the culturally conservative country with no legal protection for those in the community.
