Top 10 Most Famous Singers from Mongolia


 

There are many famous singers from Mongolia but it’s good to focus on those that feature in the global music industry. However, some are famous in their country and it is important to highlight them as well.

One of those is Samnuugiin Serchmaa who was born on August 14, 1982. His official name is Serchmaa Sambuu. She started playing violin at the early age of 6 years. When her career in singing began, she traveled to many countries to perform.

The countries include  China, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Poland, the United States of America, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

However, there are others who have also done exemplary well in singing, and those will focus on below.

1. Ulambayar Davaa

Her other name is Uka. She was born on November  6, 1982. She is a Mongolian singer, actress, and TV personality. In 2004 she first increased courtesy as a member of a girl group known as Kiwi.

She was the face of the group due to her trademark blonde hair, and unorthodox dance moves.  She pursued a solo career after her band went inactive in 2014.  She  however released four studio albums one of them being “I am in love” which she released in the year 2015

She was one of the four judges in the first season of a Mongolian talent show, “The Voice of Mongolia”, alongside Otgonbayar, Bold, and Ononbat. The subsequent conqueror, Enguun Tseyendash, was selected from her team, “Team Uka”.

She was well-thought-out to be one of the most ground-breaking modern artists in Mongolia.

2. Enkhbatyn Amartüvshin

He was born on March 23, 1986, he is a Mongolian operatic baritone and People’s Artist of Mongolia. Also was known as Amartuvshin Enkhbat.

Since 2008 he has been a soloist in the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Mongolia.

He graduated from the State University of Arts and Culture, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in the year 2009

He won numerous national and international opera competitions, one of them being the Mongolian National Competition for Young Opera Singers in 2009.

3. Ariunbaatar

He was born on April 8, 1988, he is a Mongolian baritone.  He graduated in the year 2010 from the Mongolian State University of Culture and the Arts as an opera singer.

He afterward became a traffic warden in Ulaanbaatar until he joined the Buryat National Opera in Ulan-Ude, Russia, in 2014.

He won various awards one of them being the first prize in the male vocalist category and the Grand Prix at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition.

4. Nomi Jean Carter

She is commonly referred to as Nominjin Mongolian, he is a multi-lingual and multi-cultural singer and songwriter.

She has executed in more than 15 countries as a solo singer in anterior of onlookers of up to 70,000 people, on impressive stages such as Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall of Lincoln Center, and Welsh National Opera Orchestra at Llangollen.

She is expact of speaks four languages and sings in 15 languages English, Russian, Hindi, French, Korean, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

She started her career journey at age 14 after studying under vocal coach Roger Love.

5. Engun Tseyendash

Her official name is Engün Tseyendash Mongolian, She is a Mongolian professional violinist, and singer.

She was born on September 7, 2000. At the age of 17, she was the winner of season 1 of The Voice of Mongolia. She was signed to Mongol content after winning the show.

At the age of 5, she enrolled in the Mongolian State Conservatory as a disciple of professional violinist Enkh. J is a graduate of Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan. She is studying in 12th grade.

6. Ankhmaa Gankhuyag

Her official names are Ankhmaa Gankhuyag in which she is known professionally as Ankhmaa. She is a Mongolian singer, actress, and producer. She was born on April 2, 1986, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

In 2001 She graduated from the Music and Dance College of Mongolia as a professional pianist. She finished Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in 2007. While in the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture, she started her singing career in 2005 with the band. In 2019, she pursued her solo career

7. Nimjilyn Norvbanad

 She lived between 1931 and 2002. She was born in the southern Dundgovi province of Mongolia. In the year 1952, She started her working career as a typist at the provincial court. 

She moved to the capital city Ulaanbaatar after winning several local and provincial singing competitions to pursue her singing career full-time.

In the year 1969, She was awarded Ardiyn Jujigchin (“People’s Artist”) merit by the Government of Mongolia and in the year 2000, she was voted the Singer of the Century by the people.

 She won a gold medal in the World Festival of Youth and Students held in Moscow with 34,000 participants in 195, and the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in the category “Arts and Culture” in 1993.

8. Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig

He is a Mongolian born in 1968, in Ulaanbaatar. He also known as Epi, is a Mongolian musician, nuanced singer, and Morin khuur player.

 He works in the stylishness of combination between modern and traditional music.

9. Sarantuyaa

Her official names are Batmönkhiin Sarantuyaa, she was born on April 20, 1970 She had been majoring in the pop music scene of the Mongol people since the late 1980s.

She is still very widespread among the Mongolian population, she is documented as the queen of Mongolian pop music. She is among the highest-selling Mongolian artist of all time, with several hits like Torson Odriin Bayar and Bi Jargaltai,

She was born in Ulaanbaatar, and started off singing in a small band called “Mungun Harandaa”  which similarly means “Silver Pencil”. In 1994 is when she released her very first solo live concert, named “Setgeliin Khug”, which had up to 1325 fans in turnout.  

She has released a total of  15 studio albums throughout her Life. When he was a child his parents moved from Mongolia to Ulan-Ude, Buryatia in Russia.

10. Amarkhuu Borkhuu

He was born on July 1,  1987. However, in 2006, four of his unsurpassed friends, including Buryatian friend Dorj, suggested he go to Irkutsk to partake in the show Narodniy Artist.

His representation to popularity in Russia after winning Narodniy Artist in 2006, the Russian version of Pop Idol with 61.7% of the vote over Marina Devyatova. He starred in a Mongolian-Russian film in 2010 “operation ‘Tatar’” where he first met his wife Ariunzul.

 He is the frontman of the award-winning boy band Prime Minister.
