Gonzalez is a Mexican actress and singer who became popular through the telenovela Lola in 2007.

She also had another successful leading role in 2010 in the Nickelodeon teen drama Suena Conmigo. Now an accomplished Hollywood household name, Gonzalez has a successful career.

Born in Mexico, she is the only daughter of Glenda Reyna and Carlos Gonzalez. Reyna has one older brother. She grew up in a loving home and was very close to her parents.

Unfortunately, she did not get to spend much time with her father. He tragically lost his life after a motorcycle accident.    

Her parents took her to one of the best private schools in the city where she learnt foreign languages. She was a student at Edron Academy and the American School Foundation.

Gonzalez also went to acting school and completed a two-year course before getting her first big role in the telenovela Lola.

1. Elza developed an eating disorder after her father’s death

Eiza Gonzalez grew up in the city of Sonora in Mexico. Her mother was a model and an entrepreneur who established the Glenda modelling training agency.

Her parents supported her greatly and encouraged her to pursue a career in the arts. 

When she was 12 years old, Gonzalez lost her father after a fatal motorcycle event.

She was devastated by this life-changing event leading to depression. Elza also developed an eating disorder that saw her gain a lot of weight.

2. Elza got great support from her mother

Gonzalez has a close-knit relationship with her mother. This bond came in handy when she was mourning her father.

Elza admired her mother’s enduring approach to life and work, something that helped her deal with the death of her father.

She focused her attention on acting, a newfound passion. This proved to be a positive switch and she was always in good spirits. This happened when Elza enrolled in drama school.

In spring 2008, Elza left for New York City with her mother. She took a three-month acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Elza’s singing career ended after she released her second album.

4. Elza’s acting career started when she was 17

Elza began her career when she was 17 in the telenovela, Lola. She had just finished a two-year acting course at an institution in Mexico City. In 2008, she began a music career that did not last long.

Her big break came after she went to Hollywood and landed a role in the series Dusk to Dawn. This was Gonzalez’s first English speaking role which she executed perfectly.

More acting opportunities came in for Elza such as her portrayal of Darling in the movie Baby Driver.

5. Elza had a successful modelling career

Modelling is in Elza González’s DNA. She got it from her mother who is a retired model. Her mother is also the founder of the Glenda Modelling Training Agency.

Several successful models in Mexico passed through the mother’s agency. Elza signed contracts to be the face of several brands in Mexico.

She also got modelling gigs with popular brands such as ColourTrend and Avon. In 2015, Elza was the brand ambassador for Neutrogena.
