Alden Richards is a Filipino actor, host singer and entrepreneur who started his career as a model at a young age to support his family and later became a celebrity.

His career has been a success, amassing many awards and achievements. He became one of the Philippines’ popular youth icons.

1. He was Named After his Father

Richards was born on January 21, 1992, in Quezon City and was raised in Santa Rosa Laguna. He was the second child of Richard Peralta Faulkerson, Sr of Ermita, Manila and Rosario Reyes, a native of Pampanga.

He was named Richard Reyes Faulkerson, Jr at his birth. Alden Richards is his professional name. he has three siblings, one brother and two sisters.

2. Alden’s Dream was to Become a Pilot

When growing up, Richards wanted to be a pilot, but his mother urged him to pursue acting instead.

He studied at Paco Catholic school in Paco, Manila and Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima High School, where he graduated.

He also began to pursue a Business Management degree at De La Salle Canlubang in Laguna. He didn’t have a complete duty to financial issues in his family.

3. Alden Used to Join Pageants

After his mother died, he supported his family financially and fulfilled his mother’s wish to be an actor. He joined various male beauty pageants in Laguna and worked as a part-time commercial model.

4. He is a model

Richards appeared in various commercials, including clothing lines, fast food chains, multivitamins and telecommunication companies.

He was ranked 4th on the Candy Magazine’s Celebrity Cuties list and had his earliest modeling gig at the candy fair held in Pasig.

In July 2012, Richards, along with Bela Padilla, Kris Bernal and Sarah Lahbati, appeared on the cover of MEGA Magazine, dubbed as GMA’s new breed of rising talents.

Alden auditioned for acting on the GMA Network’s afternoon soap Alakdana. He passed the audition and played the role of Joma. This film was the breakthrough in her acting career.

He then gave himself the stage name Alden Richards and appeared in the variety shows Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars, for which he got positive reviews.

Alden’s performance in The Road as a psychopath gave him recognition as a versatile actor and became a well-known performer in the Philippines.

He was featured in many films and was seen playing the lead role in Imagine You and Me in 2016.

6. Alden Richards Music Career

Alden made his first singing debut in a show Party Pilipinas in April 2013. He then launched his first single, Haplos, a revival of Shamrock’s hit song, which surfaced on My Music Store and iTunes on April 5, 2013.

He realized his self-titled debut album Alden Richards under Universal Records was released on May 26, 2013.

His single Haplos was used as a soundtrack on his prime-time show Mundo Mo’Y Akin. Haplos was nominated in the Best Performance by a New Recording Artist category in the 27th Awit Awards.

7. Alden has Been an Ambassador for Various Campaign

In 2014, Alden became an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity Philippines. In January 2013, he celebrated his birthday by building homes with other volunteers and families involved with a non-profit organization in Payatas Quezon City.

In February 2016, to celebrate his post-birthday, he visited the Aeta community in Tarlac for an outreach program.

In September 1015, he became Boardwalk’s ambassador for Young Emerging Sociopreneurs (YES). The campaign is focused on encouraging students to earn money while in school.

He also participated in the Boardwalks share campaign, where part of the proceeds went to charity and the Eat Bulaga! Sa Tamang Panahon concert at Philippine Arena, where 14 million Pesos were raised for the program AlDub Library Project.

In July 2020, Alden was chosen as an ambassador of Bida Solusyon, an informative campaign formed by the Department of Health, informing people about health protocols for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Alden is also the ambassador for the Philippines of End Tuberculosis in a campaign formed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

8. He has Done Various Philanthropy Works

Alden has been part of relief efforts established by Global Media Arts(GMA) Networks. He was part of the GMA Network 2014 Christmas campaign #share the love, where he chose children with cancer as his beneficiaries.

The GMA Network Christmas station ID theme song MaGMAhalan Tayo Ngayong Pasko, performed by Alden, was released for online downloads. All the proceeds went to Beneficiaries of GMA Kapuso Foundation relief efforts for victims of Typhoon Lando.

 He appeared at a charity event for children with a serious disease and a benefit concert titled For The Love of Mama on November 23, 2013, at the mall of Asia Arena. The proceeds of this concert were used for building the Kristong Hari Â鶹APPh Church in Quezon City.

Richards joined other artists in a worship concert titled Reborn: 1 Walker Worship Concert at the mall of Asia Arena on April 3, 2016. The worship concert proceeds were given to the Anawin Lay Missions Foundation, Inc.

9. Alden is a Roman Catholic

Richards credits his paternal grandfather, Linda, with rearing him in the Catholic faith. He said he would visit seven churches and read the epic poem Pasyon.

He watched Christmas-themed films such as The Passion of the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, The Ten Commandments and The Gospel of John during Lent.

Richards is a regular churchgoer and is all about the power of prayer for guidance, strength and humility.

In 2011, Richards won the German Moreno Youth Achievement Awards at the 59th FAMAS Awards for his debut album Alden Richards and 1st Yahoo OMG awards as Amazing Male Newcomer.

During the 29th PMPC Star Award for Television, he won the Best Drama Actor for for Ilustrado and Best Talent Search Program Host for Bet ng Bayan  with Regine Velasquez.

He won a hosting award for his album Wish I May in 2016, including Best Selling Album of the Year at the 29th Awit Awards and Pop Album of the Year at the 8th PMPC Star Awards for Music and Male Music Artist of the year at the 6th Eduk Circle Awards.

In 2022 at the 13th PMPC Star Awards for Music, he won the Male Recording Artist of Year for Going Crazy and Male Concert Performer of the Year of Alden’s Reality and many more awards.
