Oslob is a municipality in the province of the Philippines and Cebu. The population of the whole municipality in regards to the 2020 census was 29,264 people.

It is also bordered by Ginatilan and Samboan towns in the west, Boljoon town in the north, Cebu Strait in the east, and Santander town in the south.

The area is overshadowed by the second-growth forest as well as open grassland. The topography of the area is rolling and hilly makes it preferable for upland agriculture.

It has the tallest mountain dominating the region which is 800m above sea level. The area is very rich in very beautiful and unique features worldwide that attract tourists both locally and internationally.

Oslob is the home of many waterfalls but Tumalog falls is the most majestic of them all. The beauty of the falls is in their descending where it is always in contact with the rocks.

The contact creates magnificent, curtain-like or veil effects making it appear so beautiful. The fall is a picture-perfect natural wonder which causes it to be referred to as the horsetail waterfall.

The waters are very good for swimming and one can have a perfect picture in the fall at any angle.

One of the best means of arriving in the fall is by riding a habal-habal which is an amazing experience.

2. Oslob Hosts the Cuartel Ruins

The Cuartel Ruins were constructed as a military barrack in 1860 for the Spanish soldiers.

When the Spanish rule over the Philippines came to an end in 1898, the construction was no longer completed. This was after the Japanese and Americans came into the land.

The unfinished construction is however one of the heritage in Oslob today.

During the daytime, the structure offers a remarkable site with a rustic background for the wedding and pre-wedding photos.

3. Mainit Springs is the most Beautiful Hot Spring in Cebu

The hot spring is located close to Oslob though it occurs in the Malabuyoc municipality. The spring is the most beautiful in the whole region of Cebu, and it is easily accessible via bus, habal-habal, or a 20-minute walk.

The hot spring temperature varies but sometimes it can get up to 42 degrees. It is visited during the morning hours and is closed from the mid-afternoon.

The sand bar is privately owned and the tourist can swim with a minimal feel to enjoy the remarkable asset. The water around the island is very clear and its quality is very good. Coral reefs can also be seen in the area.

In the morning people have an opportunity to see the Sharks.

The island also hosts beautiful caves that are very popular in the Philippines. The caves are used by the local fishermen during the storms for refuge.

5. Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church Laid Witness of Centuries Wars and Oppression

Churches were used as makeshift hospitals, headquarters, and artillery emplacements during the colonial period in the Philippines.

Our Lady of Immaculate church was built in the 1830s. It occurs as a witness of the war, oppression, and distress when the church was ravaged by two fires.

The 2008 fire incident that occurred destroyed the interior of the church but the image of its patron was however spaced. Other 73 icons also survived the incident since they were located near the centuries-old bell tower.

Though the church has renovated the history of its birth and survival still it’s still one of a kind.

Baluarte was one of the seven watch towers constructed in Oslob. The watchtowers were built specifically for defence during the Moro invasions.

It was built in 1788 and is located near the Cuartel ruins. It provides a great place to view the horizon of Oslob.

It is currently an attraction for the people who want to conquer and to be conquered by its grand vistas.
