1. He directed The Lord of the Rings
Do you like animated fantasy films? Well on my part, I can say watching this kind of movie is like a hobby to me. The Lord of the Rings, produced in 1978 is actually an animated fantasy movie. It was an extraction from J. R. R Tolkien’s book The Lord of the Rings.
Bakshi had made several attempts to produce the film as an animated film before producer Saul Zaentz, an American film producer and record company, and distributor United Artists, an American digital producer.
The film is about a group of Hobbits, Men, a dwarf, and a Wizard who form a fellowship. It is set in the middle-earth. Bakshi managed to direct the book though it received mixed reactions from its critics and hostile viewers including that it was not complete.
2. He was once a victim of racial segregation
When Bakshi’s father moved them to Washington DC in the spring of 1947 while he was looking for a job, they got a residential area in a Black neighborhood. White local schools in the neighborhood were miles away and this forced his parents to admit him to a black school.
The black principal in the school called the police for him, in fear of riots by segregated whites if they learned that a white student was schooling in a black student school. Though most black students were not on bad terms with him as a fellow student, he could not be allowed to take his studies in the school. It was due to these reasons that the family moved back to Brownsville and rarely talked about this event.
3. He lost control of his High school studies
Bakshi lost focus and took little interest in his High school studies. He was schooling at Thomas Jefferson High School when he was interested in women who drank alcohol and smoked, mouthing off, and doodling.
His principal transferred him to Manhattan’s School of Industrial Art, in June 1956 after taking part in a food fight and was caught smoking. Fortunately, he graduated from the school with an award in cartooning.
4. Bakshi was recommended for his first job by a friend

5. His patience opened doors for him
Bakshi worked daily by removing dirt and dust from animation cels tirelessly. He worked for a few months without losing hope because that was not the kind of dream he had. Frank Schudde was surprised by the positive energy in his work, a job that would make him give up easily.
Schudde promoted him to cel painter where he began practicing with immediate effect. Other studio employees helped him become an animator when they realized his capability and talent.
6. His first marriage failed
Bakshi married his first wife, Elaine when he was 21 years. They were blessed with a son when he turned 22. Elaine though was not happy with his working habits because she claimed that he had no tie to spend with his family. His marriage lastly failed and this drove his hunger to make animations.
7. Bakshi brought CBS back to the trend line
Unlike other companies like Hanna-Barbera who were selling their animations to the network, CBS’s sales and popularity declined in general in spite of the fact that as series owned by Terry toons was produced by CBS then.
The network executives rejected Bill Weiss’s proposals saying that they were sophisticated, corny, and old-fashioned. Bakshi came up with a superhero parody called the Mighty Heroes who were fighters of evil from the more stupid villains

What the f***k is wrong with that!” The guard laughed, and let him through.
