Top 10 Most Famous British Doctors
Medical regulation in the UK ensures that medicine is only practiced by qualified and suitable people. The history of regulating doctors in the UK dates back around 600 years. The earliest licensing procedures were administered by the Church, with professional associations and universities also playing a role. Modern regulation of doctors is carried out by the General Medical Council.
The General Council of Medical Education and Registration of the United Kingdom was established in 1858. For many, the emotional toll of the medical industry is a deal-breaker. Success in the medical field requires courage, determination, pride in their work, grit, and above all else, a desire to help others. Therefore the main purpose of the council is to ensure that Persons requiring Medical Aid should be enabled to distinguish qualified from unqualified Practitioners.
The National Health Service, founded in 1948 is the publicly funded healthcare system in England. It is one of the four National Health Service systems in the United Kingdom. It is the second-largest single-payer healthcare system in the world.
