The Top Family Friendly Attractions in London

London is one of the most child-friendly cities in the world, but not all of the attractions targeted at the kids are always as enjoyable for the adults.

Family-friendly attractions are the new craze; parents want experiences with their kids while traveling, not separate. The following are considered the top family-friendly attractions in London at this time.

Madame Tussauds in London

I don’t think Madame Tussauds had anyone specifically in mind when these wax museums were set into motion. Whether you’re one year old or one hundred years old, if you enjoy wax art, you are welcome.

I do think, however, that following the success of the initial museums, that Madame Tussauds expanded their content to appeal to a much broader age group, making it the perfect place for a family excursion.

Parents might marvel over replicas of their favorite actors, or inventors. While kids will find delight in posing for photographs with their sporting idols, superheroes or dinosaurs.

It’s not the most affordable day out in London, but it will be one of the most memorable. Tickets start at around £29 if you buy online; prices are higher at the door.

Shrek’s Adventure in London

When the Shrek film series first came out it really shook the world. You didn’t have to be a child to get really into it; the movies had enough adult humor to hold audiences of all ages.

The Shrek Adventure in London is a similar feat. It’s primary goal is the entertainment of young ones but parents enjoy tagging along very much. It’s an immersive, 4D world created to swallow all attendees right into the land of Shrek.

The staff are very good at making sure every second of the experience is pure bliss. There are rides for people of all ages and many guided walking tours within the Shrek land, so bare this in mind when dressing for the occasion.

Something to note: There are incredibly loud, overwhelming sounds as part of this production. This is not for everyone and needs to be taken into consideration prior to arrival.

The London Eye in London

Perhaps the most famous attraction on the London skyline after Big Ben, the London Eye is another fantastic family excursion in the British capital.

It sits on the south bank of the Thames in the city center, and is officially the tallest observation wheel on the European continent. It is also the United Kingdom’s most profitable paid tourist attraction.

The Eye will take families up into the sky for a three hundred and sixty degree, unobstructed panoramic view of the city and outlying lands. It’s very much a bucket list experience; one would not get these same expansive views even from the window seat of an airplane flying over the city.

Tickets go for between £20 to £30 and depend largely on how many you book, where you book and the ages of who you book for.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London

Perhaps the most important family-friendly franchise to shake the world was the Harry Potter books and films.

London, being the setting for both the literature and movies, holds on very tightly to its role in the fandom. There are guided walking tours and taxi journeys one can take all over the city that will point out specific attractions pertaining to the Wizarding World.

There is, however, nothing quite like the Warner Brothers Studio Tour.

This is one family attraction in London where adults are almost always enjoying the experience more than the kids. Perhaps we have simply had more time to cultivate personal connections with the franchise, so it’s a lot more overwhelming.

The studio tour will immerse you into the fictional world that was brought to life by the most skilled set designers and artists from around the world. You can’t imagine how realistic this is until you’re in it. A must for families, couples, friends and even solo travelers.

London Duck Tours in London

The London Duck Tours have become the more family appealing alternative to the big red busses that take one through London’s streets.

What makes these torus so appealing to both adults and children is that the yellow busses double as boats. You’ll be driven in and out of the Thames water, alternating between water tours and land tours.

The tour itself is of all the major attractions that make London such a renowned city. There are stories of historic value connected to each, and the content is both adult and child suitable.

Kids are also encouraged to quack very loudly every time the yellow duck passes another yellow duck. It’s good fun!

Hyde Park in London

Last but not least, the easiest go-to for families who are traveling is always the nearest park.

In both summer and winter, Hyde Park is a family-friendly dream. There are lawns for picnicking, boats to rent, playgrounds, biking trails. When the weather gets cooler this park becomes a wonderland of entertainment, with fun fairs and iceskating.
