Top 5 Places for Vegan Burgers in London
A plant based burger is not hard to find in London Town. Most burger joints have by now updated their menus to include at least one vegan and vegetarian option to cater to the ever increasing demand.
There are some, however, that are better than others. So if you donāt want to land up with a lump of tofu between a bun then take my advice and visit any of these following spots first.
1. Mooshies in London
Mooshies is the vegan burger bar on Brick Lane that has taken Shoreditch, and greater London, by storm. Never in your wildest burger dreams would you have imagined such an establishment.
While Shoreditch, and Brick Lane in particular, have no shortage of vegan eateries, Mooshies stands out because of its inclusivity to people of all tastes and dietary restrictions.

They make burgers for people who like the taste of meat, and burgers for people who like the taste of veggies. They make burgers for people who have to eat gluten free, and they make burgers for people who like fish burgers. They make milkshakes, crispy fries, guac, tatertots, cheesy nachos, gravy and mashā¦
Itās the vegan feast of your dreams, and to make things even sweeter itās reasonably priced too!

2. Halo Burger in London
The Beyond Meat burger patty really shook the world upon its release not so long ago. Even as you take a guided walking tour through the more commercial streets of London youāll notice eateries advertising the fact that they have Beyond Meat patties available.
The idea behind them was the worldās first authentic, bleeding burger patty made 100% with plants, with a taste that is almost not recognizable as anything other than beef. If you havenāt had it yet, itās astounding. And vegan burgers will never be the same again.

Halo Burger in Brixton is bringing the Beyond Meat patties to the people of London in a big way. These are traditional, fast-food style cheese burger meals but made entirely with plants.
Unsurprisingly there is almost always a line out the door, the crazy has spread fast and even non-vegans are eager to get in on the trend thanks to how environmentally friendly these burgers are.
The making of one patty uses 99% less water than a single beef patty; the production of Beyond Meat uses 93% less land than beef and creates 90% less greenhouse gas emissions. Changing the world and you donāt even have to lose the taste you love.

3. Biff’s Jack Shack in London
One afternoon in Shoreditch I was unable to get into Mooshies for my regular burger order, so I made the short walk up to Biffās Jack Shack in the Boxpark (itās been recommended to be a number of times).
This is another fully plant based eatery with vegan burgers that challenge all culinary norms. At Biffās they aim to be as bulky, sticky, juicy and, as they like to say, āfilthyā as possible.

These burgers go all over your hands and face, & youāll be thrilled about it. Crumbed jackfruit? Tempura broccoli? Ranch wings? Loaded fries? You canāt imagine the filth.
A meal here will cost you Ā£10; this gets you a burger and fries, all other sides will be extra. Really not a bad deal if youāve seen what some vegan food can go for in London.

4. Temple of Hackney in London
The actual name of this restaurant is the Temple of Seitan, but some online platforms donāt enjoy this fabulous pun and insist it go by the Temple of Hackney instead.
Itās the most recommended vegan burger joint in London, having been repeatedly acclaimed by food critics who have stumbled in here while on holiday.
The base of the burgers is, you guessed it, seitan. If youāre yet to have encountered this life changing meat substitute youāre in for a real treat. Seitan is a form of wheat that can be manipulated into different textures and forms depending on how it is prepared.

It can be made to mimic ribs, chicken, steak and other animal flesh very, very closely. Combined with sauces youād never know the difference. Seitan is what is inside of every burger at the Temple.
Their speciality is their street chicken burger, with sides of fries and coleslaw. Their chicken wings are worth a try, too.
One thing to note about seitan is that it is pure wheat gluten; absolutely not suitable for anyone with gluten allergies.

5. Dirty Bones in London
Walking around London or taking a guided walking tour, youāll inevitably pass by a different Dirty Boneās branches en route.
They all have the same menu, but I like the one in Soho most. They are not a vegan restaurant but they recently took the time to recreate an entirely vegan version of their signature Dirty Bones burger and itās doing very, very well. It tears, it bleeds and it has more protein in it than any of the actual meat options.

While I will admit that all of the afore mentioned options are more worth supporting if you are vegan yourself, I implore Dirty Bones for making the effort to be more inclusive and this is definitely somewhere to eat if you have friends who wonāt dine vegan with you.
Itās also a lot of fun to make them taste their own burgers and then taste yours; they truly canāt admit there is any real difference heh heh hehā¦
