After David left Norman Foster’s office and established his own firm, David Chipperfield Architects in 1985 he mainly focused on shop designs for fashion. His first shop to design was an Issey Miyake shop in London at this time shop designs had not begun yet. The design was pleasing and was received well, so Issey Miyake invited David to Japan.

David continued to design many shops for the brand. After the 1980s he got his reputation for designing stores in Âé¶¹APP and Tokyo. However, he did not stop designing shops, he continued to design shops and used the money to pay bills and fund the competitions that he participated in.

One of the interesting facts about David Chipperfield is that he was educated. He attended several schools including an architectural school. In 1976, David graduated from Kingston School of Art, in London.

He went to an architectural school known as Architectural Association (AA), Commonly referred to as AA and one of the oldest private schools of architecture in the UK, to study architecture in London and attained his diploma in architecture in 1977.
