10 Best Things to do in Woolton, Liverpool


 

Woolton is an affluent suburb of Liverpool, England. It has been located  in southeast of the city and is bordered by Allerton, Gateacre, Halewood, and Hunt’s Cross. 

It is originally a standalone village. Woolton  which was incorporated into Liverpool in 1913. The Village which is more  upmarket than the city center. It is the perfect place for   best food and cocktails in a relaxing place out of the hustle and bustle of the city center and off the beaten path.

Woolton Village which  has many claims to fame, including being the birthplace of The Beatles legend John Lennon, but it is just as well known for its wide range of trendy cafe bars and bistros.

The area has become one of the most vibrant places in Liverpool and is home to an huge variety of things to do – including some from long-established businesses.

Steeped in history, the village is a must-visit and attracts visitors from across the region

1. Visit the Woolton wood and Camphill

This country park within the city of Liverpool occupies 30 hectares, partly on the site of an Iron Age fort at Camphill. The center of the park’s sweeping meadows, with views over the River Mersey to the Welsh hills, contains the wildlife-rich Woolton Woods.
 
At the edge of the woodland  which is the walled flower garden with a recently restored cuckoo clock, awarded a Bali Landscape Award in 2002. A sunken garden and pool lie close to the site of the old Woolton Manor. The park’s perimeter has been  gradually being enhanced with wild flowers and native trees planted by the local community.

It’s has been  known as Woolton Cinema. The Woolton Cinema which  is a privately owned cinema in the Woolton area of Liverpool, England. It has been  the only remaining single-screen cinema in the city, and is popular with cinema enthusiasts because of its old-fashioned atmosphere.

3. Explore the Strawberry Field

This is a Salvation Army property and visitor attraction in the Liverpool suburb of Woolton. It operated as a children’s home between 1936 and 2005. The house and grounds  which had been  originally  built as a private residence in the Victorian era, before being acquired by the Salvation Army in the 1930s. 

 
The name of the home became famous in 1967 with the release of the Beatles’ single “Strawberry Fields Forever”. It had been  written by John Lennon, who had grown up at nearby 251 Menlove Avenue.
 
Strawberry Field  which was opened to the public for the first time, with an exhibition on its history, café, and shop, alongside a training center for young people with special educational needs.

4. Discover and experience the finest food in astatic restaurants

The best part about the village has fan astatic restaurants with the finest food. Some of these restaurants may be like crust. It has award winning combinations of pizza, pasta and beer to the village. The restaurants which are  known for its creative take on classic Italian dishes from authentic Italian pizzas cooked in under three minutes in the Ferrari of pizza ovens.

Also the Ying wah which was  longest established restaurants in the Woolton village. This an authentic Chinese restaurant. It serves only locally sourced freshly cooked meals with regular new, succulents dishes and has a diverse menu regularly.

Not forget the Dostana  is an Indian restaurant with the finest food. It perfectly combines the tradition and authentic flavors of India, fused exotically with unique ethic edge

5. Explore the Allerton park

Allerton Towers is  a 35 acre park in south Liverpool. One can enter the park via the Woolton road. Historically the park was part of the manor of Allerton with a large tower. That provided impressive views of the surrounding.
 
Though it  was demolished in the 1930s. Today the park has a part of the orangery of Allerton Tower remains in place, along with the lodge, stables. Also it has  full of nooks and crannies to explore. Including the partially walled garden.
 
There has been a huge hill the kids that enjoy running up and down and sledging incase there is snow.

St Peter’s Church is in Church Road, Woolton, Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Liverpool South Childwall, the archdeaconry of Liverpool, and the diocese of Liverpool. 

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It is one of the largest parish churches in Liverpool, and its bell tower stands at the highest point of the city. The church also has connections with The Beatles.

7. Have fun with family at the Calderstones park

Calderstones Park is a public park in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. The 126 acres park is mainly a family park. Within it there are a variety of different attractions including a playground, a botanical garden and places of historical interest. There is a lake in the park with geese and ducks, and the Calderstones Mansion House, which features a café and a children’s play area.

8. Kitesurfing in  the Ainsdale Beach

Ainsdale Beach has been  situated between Liverpool and Southport. And has been  one of the most popular destinations for kite activities in the UK. Ainsdale  which is the only beach in the North West that has ever been awarded a Blue Flag.

There have been  designated launch areas for kite surfing, kite buggy and landboard. The beach which has been  suitable for both the novice and advanced kiter. 

9. Have a land rover Experience

The Land Rover Experience Liverpool is an off roading area in Speke, England. Halewood, Liverpool is home to one of the world’s most famous automobile brand Range Rover Evoqua and Discovery Sport. The Land Rover Experience  that takes visitors on a manufacturing tour that includes the assembly process up to the final preparation before delivery of the finished product. The tours include a drive on the purpose-built track.

10.Play golf with friend at Woolton Golf course

Woolton Golf Club offers a wonderful golfing experience. It has been  guaranting a fantastic day on the course, and a warm welcome in the Clubhouse.

 Woolton Golf club was born with nine holes  hence the later determination to obtain the land in 1906 to extend to eighteen holes. From all this it can be seen that Woolton Golf Club was virtually Lewis Cohen’s creation.
