1. Muammar Gaddafi

He is a former president of Libya. He was born on June 7, 1942, in Qasr Abu Hadi, Libya. Gaddafi succeeded King Idris through the 1969 coup. He was head of state for more than 40 years.
 
Besides being a dictator throughout his regime, he was also a revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. It gained him a lot of political fan base and popularity. Yet, his increased human rights violations and terrorism accusations stirred people against him. Hence later overthrown. He died on October 20, 2011.

This Greek philosopher was born in Cyrene Carneades. He was a famed head of the skeptical academy in ancient Greece. Carneades was bold to attack many previous dogmatic doctrines like stoicism and epicureanism which most skeptics before him had spared.
 
What’s more, he was a scholarch of the academy and among three philosophers sent to Rome where he taught about the uncertainty of justice caused by leaders and politicians. Unfortunately, most of the writing was never saved and only known through its successors. 

3. Kamel Hassan Maghur 

Kamel Hassan Maghur was a lawyer who later transitioned to a judge. He was born in Dahra, Tripoli, in the year 1935. He was schooled in Cairo. He went on to serve in diplomatic and international legal postings.
 
He had the chance to be Libya’s ambassador to the United Nations, Canada, France, and China. Over and above that, he also became Libya’s minister for petroleum and foreign affairs. Afterward, he returned to practicing law. He also wrote more than eight published books. 

4. Ibn al-Ajdabi 

The renowned Libyan scholar was also a linguist. He was known for his expertise in covering Islamic jurisprudence, Kalam, Arabic, and astronomy. His whole life was spent in Tripoli where he died and was buried there as well.
 
Ibn al-Ajdabi loved acquiring wider knowledge from others who visited Tripoli. He always took pride in the ability to learn from the Huwwāra and Znāta gates. When translated it means the two main gates to Tripoli which were named after two Berber tribes. 

5. Ahmed Fakroun

Fakroun was born in 1953. He is a singer and songwriter from Benghazi, Libya. He is the pioneer of modern Arabic world music. He was first influenced by Euro pop and French art rock.
 
Additionally, he is a multi-instrumentalist in both traditional and modern musical instruments. He doubles it with singing. He enjoys playing bouzouki, mandola, and the darbouka drum. Ahmed has good skills in the bass guitar and keyboard.

Idris of Libya famously known as prince Muhammad Idris Bin Muhammad was born on 13th march 1890. He was a Libyan political and religious leader who served as the Emir of Cyrenaica and later a king of the United Kingdom Of Libya from the year 1951-1969.
 
Furthermore, he was also the chief of the Senussi Muslim order. So he established links to western countries and allowed the United States and the United Kingdom to open a military base in Libya in return for economic aid.
 
The discovery of oil in 1959 was a big gain to the economy of the country. But his regime began to collapse due to the growing Arab nationalist and Arab socialist sentiments in Libya.
 
To add on, the frustration in the country’s high level of corruption ruined the cordial relationship with western nations. Thus leading to a coup by officers led by Muammar Gaddafi. 

7. Don Coscarelli Jr. 

He is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on February 17 in 1954. He is born to Italian settlers in Libya. The film expert is well known for directing and producing horror films. His headline films include the Phantasm series, The Beastmaster, and Bubba Ho-Tep.

He was born on 1 April 1953 and is a Libyan surgeon, professor of surgery, and also a politician. He has served as the minister of health and was among the first team to develop laparoscopic surgery and organ transplant in Libya. He is currently chairman of Tripoli Central Hospital’s department of surgery. 

9. Callimachus 

 
Callimachus was born in the Greek city of Cyrene in modern-day Libya. He was a Greek poet, scholar, and librarian who was active in Alexandria during the 3rd century BC.
 
He wrote over 800 literary works in a wide variety of genres most of which did not survive. He had a strong influence on the poets of the roman Empire and western literature. 

10. Suleiman Ali Nashnush 

Born in February 1943, he was a basketball player and actor. He was one of the 20 individuals in the medical history to reach or surpass eight feet in height. In 1960 he successfully, underwent surgery to correct his abnormal growth. He died on February 25 in 1991.
