Bibras Natkho is a Circassian-Israeli professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for the Serbian club Partizan. 

He also captains the Israel national team. He is the first captain of Israel to be of either Circassian or Muslim origin.

1. He was born to a Circassian Israeli Muslim Family

Natkho was born in Kfar Kama, Israel, to a Circassian-Israeli Muslim family.

His father Akram Natkho served in the Israel Border Police (Magav), and died of cardiac arrest in 2008.

His cousin, Circassian-Israeli basketball player Nili Natkho, died in 2004 in a car accident in northern Israel.

Their grandfather moved from Turkey to what was then the British Mandate of Palestine (now Israel).

His younger cousin Amir Natkho joined CSKA in 2015 as well.

His uncle, Amir’s father, Adam Natkho is also a former footballer from Russia.

2. He Started his Career in his Home Town with Hapoel Tel Aviv

Natkho joined his local home team Hapoel Tel Aviv’s youth team together with Ben Sahar.

He moved through the ranks up to the first team at the start of the 2006–07 season, winning the State Cup during that season.

Throughout the years, Natkho became an important player in Hapoel and the Israeli national youth teams.

Natkho made his League debut coming on as a substitute against Maccabi Netanya F.C. on 18 November 2006.

Natkho’s first professional goal was against NK Å iroki Brijeg during the 2nd leg of the 2007–08 UEFA Cup second qualifying round at Bloomfield Stadium.

3. He is Currently Playing for his 6th Senior Club

He started his senior carrier with Hapoel Tel Aviv’s first team after moving up the youth levels in their academy. 

He has since moved to the Russian side Rubin Kazan for €650000 on 8th March 2010.

He went on to spend four years there before joining Greece side PAOK for free in 2014, signing a one-year contract. 

He then moved to the fourth senior club and Russian side CSKA Moscow, signing a four-year contract. 

He then moved back to Greece after four years in Russia, signing a two-year contract with Olympiacos. 

He however cut short his contract after just 1year and joined Serbian club Partizan in 2019.

He is currently in his third year with Partizan.

4. He made his International Debut on 3rd March 2010 against Romania

Throughout his career, Natkho has played for nearly every Israeli national team together with his colleague, Beram Kayal.

He represented the national team at the Valeri Lobanovsky Memorial Tournament 2007 he was victorious for it.

As a former captain of the Israel under-19 football team, Natkho was called up for the Senior team friendly match held on 12 August 2009 against Northern Ireland.

Together with fellow club mate Avihai Yadin, but wasn’t capped.

Natkho made his first appearance for the national team in a friendly game against Romania (3 March 2010.

He came on as a substitute for his former teammate Gil Vermouth.

He scored his first international goal against Azerbaijan (7 September 2012). 

5. He has Won Several Major Honours in his Career

Natkho has won several honours in his playing career. 

He won the Israel state cup in 2006-2007 with Hapoel Tel Aviv. 

He has also won the Russian Cup in 2011-2012 and the Russian super cup in 2012 with Rubin Kazan. 

He went on to win the Russian Premier league in 2015-2016 with CSKA Moscow. 

He also won some individual awards including the Europa League Team of the Group Stage 2013–14.

He then won the Russian Premier League Top 33 Players: 2011–12, 2014–15.

6. He is Married to Talia Achmiz

He is married to Circassian-Israeli Talia Achmiz, and together they have three children.

His eldest son was born in 2012 and is named after Natkho’s late father.

His family had to flee to the Ottoman Empire in the mid-19th century due to the war with Imperial Russia.

He is beloved for his key role on the team and unfailing effort.

7. Natkho is the only Muslim Player on Israel’s National Team.

As an observant Muslim, he observes the Ramadan fast every year and readily acknowledges Tatarstan’s Islamic heritage. 

His Rubin coach Kurban Berdyev shared Muslim faith made him feel comfortable during his time with Rubin Kazan.
