1. Bob Marley

His is Robert Nesta Marley OM, he was born 0n February 6, 1945. He was a Jamaican singer, musician, and songwriter. He is considered one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career was marked by fusing elements of reggae.

Bob’s contribution to music increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide, this turned him into a global figure in popular culture. He is also known as a Rastafari icon who used his voice to support democratic social reforms.

Some of his studio albums include The Wailing Wailers in 1965, Exodus in 1977, and Confrontation in 1983. As for his live albums are Live! in 1975, and Babylon by Bus.

2. Shaggy

He was born on October 2, 1968, in Kingston, Jamaica. He was nicknamed after Scooby-Doo’s character. He became known in 2007 when he was awarded the Jamaican Order of Distinction with the rank of Commander.

Some of his studio albums are Pure Pleasure in 1993, Hot Shot in 2000, Wah Gwaan?! and his latest album Com Fly Wid Mi.

Over the course of his career, he had three concert tours including the Pure Pleasure Tour from 1993 to 1994, Boombastic Tour with Paula Abdul from 1995 to 1996, and his Midnite Lover Tour from 1997 to 1998.

3. Damian Marley

Damian Robert Nesta Marley was born July 21, 1978, he is a DJ singer, and rapper. He is the youngest son of reggae singer Bob Marley. He is the recipient of four Grammy Awards.

His music is described as dancehall and reggae fused with hip-hop musical elements. His album Make It Bun Dem was certified with the RIAA: Platinum, ARIA: Gold, and MC Gold.

4. Sean Paul Ryan

He was born in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Garth and Frances, he was born on January 9, 1973. His mother is a well-known painter. He is regarded as one of dancehall’s most prolific artists.

His single Temperature topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Most of his albums have been nominated for the Grammy’s Best Reggae Album.

Sean has been featured in many singles including top artists like Beyonce, Clean Bandit, and many more.

Some of the awards he won include the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, The 2003 MuchMusic Video Awards, the 2004 International Reggae, and World Music Awards, and the 2005 American Music Awards.

5. Spice

Grace Latoya Hamilton also known as Spice, was born on August 6, 1982. She is a Jamaican dancehall recording artist, singer, songwriter, and businesswoman. She is recognized as one of the most prominent dancehall artists in the world.

Her career truly began when she released a single with Vybz Kartel called Romping Shop in 2009. She was later signed with VP Records and released her debut Ep So Mi Like It in 2014. She left VP Records in 2022.

In 2018, she joined the cast of VH1’s reality television series Love & Hip Hop Atlanta in season seven. In the same place, she was number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and was nominated for Best Reggae Album.

Throughout the course of her career, she has won several awards like the 2016 21st Hapilos Digital Music Awards, and the 2015 International Reggae and World Music Awards.

6. Bunny Wailer

Neville O’Riley Livingston was born on 10 April 1947 and is professionally known as Bunny Wailer. He is a singer, songwriter, and percussionist, he was an original member of the reggae group The Wailers

He is considered one of the lifetime standard-bearers of reggae music. Some of his other names are Jah B, Bunny O’ Riley, and Bunny Livingston. Bunny is also known as a three-time Grammy Award winner.

Some of his albums include Protest in 1977, Rock ‘n’ Groove in 1981, The Never Ending Wailers in 1991, and Bunny Wailer’s Sound Clash in 2006.

7. Peter Tosh

Winston Hubert Mclntosh was born on 19 October 1944 and is professionally known as Peter Tosh. He was a reggae musician and was a core member of the band the Wailers. 

After the band, he established a successful solo career and became a Rastafari promoter. He is remembered as the artist who amused his audience with his unicycle skills.

Some of his live albums include Captured Live in 1984, Live at the One Love Peace Concert in 2000, Live at the Jamaica World Music Festival 1982 in 2002, and Live at my Father’s Place 1978 in 2014.

8. Sean Kingston

Kisean Paul Anderson was born on February 2, 1990. He is a songwriter and a grandson of Jamaican record producer and a very famous personality in the music industry Jack Ruby. 

He has collaborated with many artists like Tory Lanez, G Herbo, TOMORO, Vybz Kartel, Zendaya, and many more. These artists have given him credit in the music industry making his road to success simple.

He has been nominated for many awards including the 2007 Image Awards, the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Japan, and the 2007 Teen Choice Awards.

However, he has won awards like MOBOAwards in 2007, and the 2007 Teen Choice Awards under the category of Choice R&B Track Beautiful Girls.

9. Gregory Isaacs

Gregory Anthony Issacs is known as the Most Exquisite Vocalist in Reggae. He is a Jamaican-born reggae and lover of rock singers from Kingston. His international stardom began when he signed with the Virgin Records offshoot Front Line Records.

In 2008, He released a studio album Brand New Me which he was nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2010. The album received a bunch of positive feedback and brought him a bunch of new fans.

Gregory has released more than 500 albums and some of them date back to the beginning of his career. Some of his albums include In Person in 1975, The Best of Gregory Isaacs in 1978, Maximum Respect in 1996, and So Much Love in 2000.

10. Marcia Griffiths

Marcia Llyneth Griffiths was born on 23 November 1949, he is a singer. She is notated as a strong and smooth singer with captivating live performances.

Her albums include Sweet Bitter Love in 1974, Rock My Soul in 1984, Collectors Series in 1998, Marcia Griffths & Friends in 2012, and Timeless In 2019.
