Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa in 1451. He was an Italian Explorer and navigator. He compelled four Span-based voyages across the Atlantic Ocean sponsored by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain.
Christopher opened the way for the widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americans. His expeditions were the first known European contact with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
