This country is among those top countries that harbor the rich and famous.
It is a peaceful country with natural surroundings and of course clean and fresh beaches. It has a high-voltage nightlife with a perfect mix of casinos supported by the beauty of the beaches.
Well, don’t go by its size for the country has been the address of many renowned royal leaders and sports stars. Among the most famous is Prince Albert II, who reigned as the monarch of Monaco from 1889 to 1922.
1. Prince Albert II
Albert was born at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, and he is the second child and only son of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly. He attended the Lycée Albert Premier before studying political science at Amherst College.
In his youth, he competed in bobsleigh during the Winter Olympic finals before retiring in 2002. Albert was appointed regent in March 2005 after his father fell ill, and became sovereign prince upon his death a week later.
Since his ascension, he has been outspoken in the field of environmentalism and an advocate of ocean conservation, and the adoption of renewable energy sources to tackle global climate change, and founded The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in 2006.
He directly raises funds and initiates action for such causes and greater ecological preservation.
With assets valued at more than $1 billion, Albert owns shares in the Société des Bains de Mer, which operates Monaco’s casino and other entertainment properties in the principality.
In July 2011, Prince Albert married South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock. They have two children, the twin’s Princess Gabriella and Hereditary Prince Jacques.
Albert is also father to two children born prior to his marriage, American-born Jazmin Grace Grimaldi and French-born Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste.
He was also a famous oceanographer who became the longest ruling monarch in European history.
He took the responsibility for revamping and expanding Monaco’s economy beyond the usual traditional casino-based gambling.
2. Rainier III
Rainier III, Prince de Monaco was born on May 31, 1923, and died on April 6, 2005. His original name was Rainier Louise Henri Maxence Bertrand de Grimaldi.
He was the son of Prince Pierre, count de Polignac, and Princess Charlotte de Monaco, daughter of Louis II, Prince de Monaco. Rainier became a Grimaldi by receiving his mother’s family name and in accordance with a sovereign ordinance of March 18, 1920.
Rainier was educated in England and Switzerland and at the University of Montpellier in France.
In 1944, during World War II, he served in the French army, and after the war, he studied at the University of Âé¶¹APP.
His mother having renounced her rights to succession in 1944, Rainier succeeded to the throne on May 5, 1949, just before Louis II’s death. On April 19, 1956, he married Grace Kelly, who became Princess Grace de Monaco.
Unfortunately, she died in an automobile accident in 1982. Together, they had three children namely Caroline, Albert, and Stéphanie. Following Rainier’s death in 2005, Albert assumed the throne.
3. Grace Kelly
Kelly was one of the most gifted actresses of her time. She was named after her parents. She featured in 11 films and over 60 television productions.
She loved Alfred Hitchcock movies. She was an Oscar-winning actress who left her successful Hollywood career after her wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, and thus became the Princess of Monaco.
4. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco
The youngest child of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, and his wife, Grace Kelly, an American actress.
Currently, she holds the 14th position in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne. As a schoolgirl, she learned classical dance and piano. In her career, she has been a singer, swimwear designer, and fashion model.
5. Caroline the Princess of Hanover
She is the daughter of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, renowned American actor, Grace Kelly, and a sister to Princess Stéphanie.
She did charities which earned her the UNICEF Children’s Champion winning the award and also became the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. She is the wife of Ernst August, Prince of Hanover.
6. Charlene, Princess of Monaco
She was once an Olympic swimmer and represented South Africa at the Sydney Olympics in the year 2000. She is married to Prince Albert who she met during a swimming competition.
Currently, she owns the Prince Charlene of Monaco Foundation and works. Her specifics are the causes related to AIDS, sports, and disadvantaged children.
7. Charlotte Casiraghi
She is the daughter of Caroline, Princess of Hanover, and Italian industrialist Stefano Casiraghi. She has worked as a journalist with magazines such as Above. In addition, has also launched her own publication, Ever Manifesto.
She is also a skilled equestrian and has founded the philosophy-oriented group Les Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco.
8. Alain Ducasse
He is one of the world’s most decorated chefs known for his incomparable cuisines. He has created new innovative dining concepts that reflect internationally.
He operates in three restaurants of which each has been awarded three Micheline stairs in Monaco, Âé¶¹APP, and London.
9. Ghislaine Dommanget
She was the daughter of Colonel Robert Joseph Dommanget who lived from 1867 to 1957 and the mother was Marie Louise Meunier.
She was married to Paul Diey who died in 1931 after which she got married to the reigning Prince of Monaco, Louis II on July 24, 1946. She is known to be the first bride of the house of Grimaldi to be married with a dowry.
Additionally, she became Dowager Princess of Monaco after her grandson Rainier III’s accession. Her husband, Louis II died on May 9, 1949. This is the reason why she was given the title of a princess until her death.
Her many marriages, however, did not affect her marriage to the Prince of Monaco, as was probably expected.
10. Aurelien Tchouameni
