Leyla Hazal Kaya (born October 1, 1990) is a Turkish model and actress. Kaya is best known for her roles as Feriha Sarrafoglu in the television series Adn Feriha Koydum (2011-2012) and Filiz in Bizim Hikaye (2017-2019), which was influenced by the British TV show Shameless.

1. Brief history about Hazal Kaya

Hazal Kaya was born in Istanbul on October 1, 1990 (31 years of age), and spent her childhood in Balat. She attended Gaziosmanpasa Primary and Secondary Schools before graduating from Istanbul Italian High School (Istanbul Italyan Lisesi). Her parents are both attorneys.

When her parents divorced in 1997, Hazal Kaya began living with her mother. She had artistic talent since she was a child. She began violin lessons when she was 4.5 years old and ballet when she was 7 years old.

She was a member of her high school’s theatre club while in high school.

She began her television career while still in high school, with a soft drink television commercial. In 2006, she appeared as a guest actress in the Turkish drama The Rookie Witch (Acemi Cadi) (episode 46).

She was in her second year of high school when she became the main character in the Turkish drama The Guardian Angel (Genco). She rose to prominence as Nihal Ziyagil in the popular Turkish drama Forbidden Love (Aski Memnu). Calgi Cengi, her first film, was released in 2011.

Hazal Kaya is fluent in Turkish (his native language), English, Italian, and German.

3. Hazal Kaya’s professional journey

Kaya portrayed Nihal Ziyagil in a modern-day adaptation of Halit Ziya UÅŸaklgil’s novel AÅŸk- Memnu in 2008. In 2011, she made her film debut in Selçuk Aydemir’s alg engi. Around the same time, she studied drama with Ayla Algan. She then enrolled in Ãœmit rak’s Modern Acting Techniques Workshop and began taking acting lessons from Ãœmit rak himself.

Kaya played the lead character, Feriha Sarrafolu, in the first two seasons of the TV series Adn Feriha Koydum (2011). She played a porter’s daughter who is trapped between two lives and falls in love with the most popular student at her university, a rich and handsome boy named “Emir Sarrafolu” (aatay Ulusoy).

The series had one of Turkey’s highest TV ratings. Soon afterward, she appeared in Bingo commercials with her mother, AyÅŸegül Kaya.  She left the cast of Adn Feriha Koydum in late 2012 to star in a new series called Son Yaz Balkanlar 1912 as the character Emine.

Nevertheless, due to low ratings, the series was canceled after only a few episodes. She later played the character of Azra Zak, a tennis coach, in the 2013 series A..K. That show, too, ended after 13 episodes. In 2015, she co-starred in Maral: En Güzel Hikayem with Aras Bulut ynemli. Maral Erdem, the main character, was played by her.

Her most recent TV show is Bizim Hikaye (in English: Our Story), a Turkish adaptation of the American television series Shameless. Kaya plays “Filiz Elibol Aktan” opposite actor Burak Deniz in this TV show.

As of 2021, she co-stars in the TV series Misafir, an adaptation of the Japanese TV series Oasis, with Bugra Gulsoy and Ozan Dolunay.
