1 An American Born in Holon, Israel

Born  Safra Ada Catz on December 1, 1961, in Holon, Israel to Romanian Jewish parents. Her father was an immigrant from Romania while her mother was a holocaust survivor.

She holds an American citizen ship and is where she has lived throughout her life.

2 She Started her Studies at Brookline High School

At age of 6, she moved from Israel to Brookline, Massachusetts, America where she spent all of her childhood.
She graduated from Brookline High School and later obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1983 from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
She then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania Law School where she obtained her Juris Doctorate in 1986.
She also attended the prestigious Harvard Law School where she earned her J.D. Law discipline has enabled her to understand the rules and processes which are associated with the governing of both the corporate environment as well as the political aspects of the government of a nation.

3 Worked at (DLJ) a Wall Street Investment Bank for 14 years

She started her career life in 1986 at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette, (DLJ), an Investment Bank actively involved in Wall Street.

Here she learned her most coveted skills in mergers and acquisitions as she oversaw nearly eighty-five deals an experience that would come in hard at her current job at Oracle Corporation, where such transactions are the corporation’s key strategy.

She served as a senior vice president from January 1994 to February 1997, later served as a managing director from February 1997 to March 1999, and previously held various banking positions since 1986.

4 She didn’t begin her Family Until her Mid-thirties

In 1997, she get married to her spouse Gal Tirosh, a football and former football coach, she has two sons, Gary and Scott to complete her family.

She joined Oracle as a senior vice president and had an ambition to drastically improve the company’s financial standing through her experience at DLJ. In less than two years, Catz was placed on the Oracle board and was also named co-president in 2004.
Since April 2007, she has been a non-executive director of oracle subsidiary Hyperion Solution.
Since March 2013, she has been a member of the executive council of TechNet.
In December 2004, she became a director of PeopleSoft and Stellent in December 2006.

6 She is the Genius of Mergers & Acquisitions 

She has extensive experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions at both Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (an investment banking group since 1986) and Oracle Corporation
She has overseen over 85 mergers and acquisitions and she is a visiting lecturer at Stanford Business School on Mergers and Acquisition.
Among her monumental transactions is the takeovers of PeopleSoft at $ 10.3 million where she served as a director since 2004, other notable acquisitions under her watch include Hyperion Corporation for $3.3 billion (2007), BEA Systems for $8.5 billion (2008), Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion (2010), Acme Packet for $2.1 billion (2013), MICROS Systems for $5.3 billion (2014), and NetSuite for $9.3 billion (2016).
However, the NetSuite acquisition is considered one of the biggest acquisitions in Oracle’s 44-year history.

Acquiring Sun Microsystems and MICROS, best known for developing the Java programming language and the Solaris operating system while the latter provided enterprise applications for over 330,000 businesses in 180 countries, was a transaction worth many paper headlines.
She is also the company’s CFO, serving temporarily in that role from November 2005 to September 2008 and from April 2011 to the present.

7 She has Been Ranked Among the top 20 Most Powerful Businesswomen Globally

In 2009, she was ranked as the 12th most powerful businesswoman by fortune while Forbes in the same year ranked her 16th Forbes most powerful businesswoman.
In 2011, according to an analysis published by fortune, the highest-paid woman among fortune 1000 companies, received an estimated $51.2 Million in total remuneration. As of April 2017, Catz is the highest-paid female CEO, earning $40.9 million.

8 She is Aligned with Republican Politics and Shows Interest in American Politics

In 2016 donated an undisclosed sum to the campaign of Marco Rubio during the Republican presidential primaries.
In 2018  she donated over 150,000 dollars to Republican-aligned political groups and individuals including congressman Devin Nunes.
In May 2020, Catz donated 125,000 dollars to Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

It was during the Trump transition, that her initiatives in political activities started to pay off. According to Bloomberg,  she was one of the several high-profile CEO invited to talk with elected president Donald Trump about potentially taking up a position in the incoming administration.

She has been a supporter of the Trump team and has not been shy about sharing her opinions in very public and outspoken ways and previously made the offer of support and her service to assist in any way possible as the new administration makes the transition into Trump’s new role and commander in chief.

Having been a strong proponent of tax reforms that would be beneficial for trade and the tech community, helped her to gain support in corporate circles. It is believed she would be considered for a position as a Trade Representative or the Director of National Intelligence, however, this did not happen.

She has a tough and determined persona, having managed to keep Oracle’s reputation as a worldwide player despite stiff competition from Microsoft, Intel, and Amazon.

In March  2021 she made headlines for her exceptional trading skill when she obtained 2.25 million shares through the conversion of derivatives and then sold them on the open market for approximately twice the price.

10 She Serves at the Disney World Board

In December 2017, due to her long and excellent service in the corporate world, she was elected to The Walt Disney Company’s board of directors, and she began serving in that capacity in February 2018.
