1. Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is a public research university based in Jerusalem, Israel.
It was established in July 1918 and officially opened in April 1925. It is the second-oldest Israeli university, having been founded 30 years before the establishment of the State of Israel.
The university has five affiliated teaching hospitals, seven faculties, more than 100 research centers, and 315 academic departments. As of 2018, one-third of all the doctoral candidates in Israel were studying at the HUJI.
Among its first few board of governors were Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Martin Buber, and Chaim Weizmann.

2. Tel Aviv University
Tel Aviv University shortly known as TAU, is another public research university in Tel Aviv, Israel. With over 30,000 students, it is the largest university in the country.

The University of Haifa is a university located on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. Founded in 1963, the University of Haifa received full academic accreditation in 1972, becoming Israel’s sixth academic institution and the fourth university.
The university has the largest university library in Israel. As of 2019, approximately 18,000 students were enrolled at the University of Haifa. Among Israeli higher education institutions, the University of Haifa has the largest percentage (41%) of Arab-Israeli students.

Bar-Ilan University shortly known as BIU is a public research university in the Tel Aviv District city of Ramat Gan, Israel.
It was established in 1955 and is currently Israel’s second-largest academic institution. It has 18,000 students and 1,350 faculty members.
The university’s mission is to blend Jewish tradition with modern technologies and scholarship. It also aims at teaching the Jewish heritage to all its students while providing academic education.”

Reichman University is a private university in Herzliya, Israel, in the Tel Aviv District.
It was founded in 1994 where it was known as IDC Herzliya, before being rebranded in 2021. Reichmann University was ranked 801-1000th in the Times Higher Education rankings for 2022.
The university receives no direct government funding and in August 2021 became Israel’s first private university to be accredited.

Ariel University previously a public college that was known as the Ariel University Center of Samaria, is an Israeli university located in the urban Israeli settlement of Ariel in the West Bank.
The college preceding the establishment of Ariel University was founded in 1982 as a regional branch of Bar-Ilan University.
Originally located in the settlement of Kedumim, it moved to Ariel where it built a larger campus and went on to become the largest Israeli public college.
In the 2004–05 academic year, the affiliation with Bar Ilan ended and it became an independent college.
