Ayu Gani was born in Solo in Central Java, Indonesia before she moved to Yogyakarta. She studied at Sanata Dharma University majoring in English literature and received a scholarship from Cincinnati, Ohio for one year because of her talent in music. After that, she finally moved back to Jakarta and studied fashion business at LaSalle College Jakarta.

Ayu Lestari Putri Gani represents the face of Asia fashion with her unique and distinctive qualities. She is an Indonesian model, made famous for being the winner of the prestigious modelling competition, Asia’s Next Top Model. 1.   Ayu Gani Modelling Career Started at a Local Competition

Wajah Femina (Face of Femina) is a model selection completion held annually by Femina magazine which started in 1986. Wajah Femina has successfully catapulted several Indonesian models to international fame such as Kinaryosih, Memes, Ratu Felisha, Ladya Cheryl, Alia Miranti, Whulandary, Kamidia Radisti, Tessa Kaunang, Isyana Bagoes Oka, Lola Amaria, Tiffany Zhu, Maria Christina Evanny Wityo, Sarah Ariantie, Faradina Amaria, and Tiffany Jolie. Gani began her career when she participated in the Wajah Femina modelling competition and was awarded “The Most Favorite” title. The rest they say is history.

2.  Ayu Gani won Asia Next Top Model

Gani was one of the fourteen contestants on the third season of Asia’s Next Top Model 2015. She was one of three contestants that represented Indonesia, the others being Tahlia Raji and Rani Ramadhany.  Gani received three best photo or first call-outs in weeks 2, 6 and 12 鈥� the second highest number after Monika Sta. She won the competition against Monika sta, Maria and Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw. The win came with a Subaru XV STI, a cover of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, a contract with Storm Model Management in London and a campaign with TRESemm茅.

Asia’s Next Top Model (abbreviated as AsNTM) is a reality television show based on the American franchise America’s Next Top Model in which a number of aspiring models compete for the title of Asia’s Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modelling industry. The show features models from the entire Far East region (East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia).

Post Asia鈥檚 Next Top Model Gani landed several jobs in Europe for commercial photo shoots and magazine spreads as well as The Body Shop winter campaign. She collaborated with Minimal, a fashion brand in Indonesia.

Ayu Gani has also been featured in numerous magazine covers, spreads, and interviews like Surface Magazine, Femina Indonesia, Grazia, Nylon, HighEnd, and Harper’s Bazaar Singapore as the winner of Asia’s Next Top Model (cycle 3). She has also modelled for Zalora.

4. Ayu Gani Plays the Double Bass Music Instrument

Thanks to her expertise in playing contrabass musical instruments, Gani, who idolizes model Kate Moss managed to get a scholarship for one year to study performing arts in Cincinnati, Ohio, the school that was once a filming location for  Glee.

Double bass, also called contrabass, string bass, bass, bass viol, bass fiddle, or bull fiddle, French contrebasse, German Kontrabass, stringed musical instrument, the lowest-pitched member of the violin family, sounding an octave lower than the cello.

5. Ayu Gani Served a Judge on Indonesia’s Next Top Model

She also became a guest judge of the first cycle of Indonesia’s Next Top Model and was the resident judge for Indonesia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2. She is later promoted to the main judge on the second cycle of Indonesia’s Next Top Model.

Top Model, also called Next Top Model, is a fashion-themed reality television show format produced in many countries throughout the world and seen in over 120 countries producing over 200 seasons, which are referred to as “cycles”. The show takes the form of a modelling competition whose winners typically receive a contract with a major modelling agency and a cover shoot and fashion photo spread in a fashion magazine.

6.  Ayu Gani is an Eyewear Designer

The winner of the 2015 Asia’s Next Top Model competition, Ayu Gani, launched her own sunglasses line. She had planned a 2014 launch but got accepted as one of the contestants in Asia鈥檚 Next Top Model, so the project was postponed.

The line which is the first collection called Gaze featured 24 styles of sunglasses for women.  She has confessed to really love collecting sunglasses and believes every woman needs them. She further added, 鈥� When you haven’t applied make-up, just wear sunglasses,鈥�. Gani鈥檚 sunglasses came with unusual designs. The twenty-three-year-old offered the products online and promoted them through photo sharing application Instagram.

7.   She Would Like to open a restaurant

Apart from modelling, the winner of Asia鈥檚 Next Top Model 2015, Ayu Gani, also loves cooking and dreams of having her own restaurant. She swears by her pasta love cooking, especially pasta and dreams of churning out culinary magic in her own Italian restaurant one day.

In pursuing her entrepreneurial potential first concentrated on modelling while working on her sunglasses line. ‘In the long run, I definitely want to be a businesswoman because it’s interesting,’ Gani said.

8. She was Signed to the Largest Model Management

Gani secured a contract with one of the largest modelling agencies in London, Storm Model Management, which has managed supermodels Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne. Storm  Model Management was founded in 1987 by Sarah Doukas in London.

Doukas discovered Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Behati Prinsloo and Anya Taylor-Joy.In 2009, Doukas sold a controlling stake in the company to 19 Entertainment. Doukas and her brother Simon Chambers continue to run the business. Their sister was the actress Emma Chamber

9. She Studied English and Literature at Uni
