The Akshardham temple is a large Hindu temple in India. The temple was built over 13 years and was a tribute to Swaminarayan and his life teaching. It was opened to the public in 2005. The structure of the temple was designed in such a way that it can last for at least 1000 years more

The word Akshardham according to  Swaminarayan Hinduism means the abode of the Lord. It represents the serenity and the holiness of the place where devotees worship the divine and seek their blessings. It is considered to be the divine home of the God on Earth. Here are the top 10 amazing facts about the Akshardham Temple

1. Akshardham Temple is surrounded by a lake called Narayan Sarovar

The lake carries water from the 151 lakes in India. There were 108 faces of cows that were placed along the lakes. They represent the 108 Hindu deities. It has a long orbital path for Parikrama made up of red stones brought from Rajasthan which has 3000 feet long. Also has a two-story building, with 1,152 pillars and 145 windows.

2. Akshardham temple has a complete exquisite garden in the shape of a lotus

The Lotus Garden can be seen from above which looks like a lotus. It is made up of large stones where the quotes from Shakespeare, Martin Luther, Swami Vivekananda, and other eminent figures are engraved. This is a symbol of spirituality that has been part of what is by the historical leader, philosophers, and scientists. The beautiful garden is a must-visit spot whenever you visit Akshardham Temple.

The ten gare represent the 10 directions according to Vedic literature. They show that goodness will continue to come in from all directions. The gates are representations include architecture, dance, music, and literature among the other aspects of the ancient times.

The temple has a musical fountain show which attracts visitors and it is known as the circle of life. This show reflects the cycle of life, from birth to death.

  The center of attraction inside the temples is the 11 feet statue of Lakshmi Narayan.  Also, the temple has other statues of Shiva Parvati, Radha Krishna, and Sita Ram within the memorial. The dome above the statue of Lakshmi Narayan is mind-blowing. This is because of the minute carvings on each stone of the temple that leaves you stunned.

It also consists of a theatre within the premises, which is known as Nilkantha. It reflects the events from the life of God Swaminarayan.

The garden India is found within the premises of the temple. It is popularly known as Bharat Upavan. The garden has a huge lawn that is decked with bronze sculptures of Indian National freedom fighters, warriors, national personalities, and other famous figures related to India.

There is a food court inside the Akshardham temple. It serves vegetarian food called private Ahargruh. The food court is modeled on the design of Ajanta and Ellora caves in Maharashtra.

The hall values are designed to take in-depth knowledge of values like perseverance, non-violence, family, harmony, prayer, and also morality. Most messages of Hindu culture are told by audio-animatronic shows. The Ghanshyam Maharaj found in the hall is the world’s smallest animatronic robot that is the form of Swaminarayan

8. The Boat ride/ Sanskruti Darshan

When visiting the Akshardham temple it’s compulsory to ride the cultural boats. They help to introduce the old pages of Indian culture and heritage. The boat ride was contributed by Vedic Indians like Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Kalidasa, Chanakya, and others. It then shows the rides to Texila which was the first university in the world. They also include the lessons on horse riding and war. The Vedic age goes back to the middle age. It shows the famous figures of Kabir, Meera, and Ramanand.

9. Akshardham Temple gained the name from  the Guinness book of world

The temple found a spot in the Guinness book of world records for being the largest Hindu temple in the world. It has a total area of 86342 feet and measures 356 ft long, 316 feet wide, and 141 ft high. The record was noticed by Michael Whitty. This was the first time when a senior member of the Guinness world record management committee visited India to give the world record certificate.

The temple is located on the bank of the River Yamuna. It was officially opened in November 2005. The temple was built following the guidelines of Vaastu Shastra and Pancha. It has many historical and mythical incidents that are depicted on the walls of the temple. The temple has 20000 sculptures of deities and mythical characters.

The monument of the temple is 141 ft high 316 wide and 370 ft long. The temple is among the middle-age architecture like some historical temple-like Meenaxi, Konarak, Jagganath, and others. The establishment attracts a lot of people from around the world. 

The temple is a bit spiritual complex nestled and is a popular Hindu temple. The entry at the temple does not change but due to several exhibitions, one has to buy ticket for exhibition. They are sold between 10 am and 5 pm.
