Houston, Texas is a global city. It boasts of its space and science contributions and also being home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Its extensive shopping areas are a honeycomb for many tourists. It often hosts various sports events, ranging from professional football, baseball, basketball, and soccer games. These events cause sports enthusiasts to flock to the various arenas to cheer for their favorite teams. Its rich and culturally diverse community due to the ever-growing population makes it a hub for performing arts organizations, galleries, plazas, and movie theatres. The food scene here ranges from fine dining to laid-back bar & grills.  It has many award-winning restaurants. Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter, more popularly known just as Beyonce has had an impressive career. She rose to prominence as a member of the R&B group Destiny’s Child before going out on a solo career. And aren’t we glad she did! She has continued to grace us with her presence in shows and concerts and we can only agree, it gets better with age. Her recent performance in Dubai, alongside her daughter, Blue Ivy, was nothing but phenomenal!

He is famous for his role in The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon Cooper which aired for 12 years! The role earned him international fame and in 2018 he became one of the highest-paid television actors. Parson was born in Houston where he took interest in acting as a young man. His favorite shows were Three’s Company and The Cosby Show, which drove him to pursue his acting dream in New York. Before The Big Bang Theory, he worked in theatres often landing supporting roles. He has bagged several awards, which include four Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Award, and a Teen Choice Award.

You would not talk about country music without naming this legend. It is not a surprise that this cowboy hails from Houston. He is the most successful and famous country music artist. He scored over 120 hit singles and topped the country and pop charts for an unparalleled 200 individual weeks. He has sold more than 130 million record copies across the world. A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Rogers helped mainstream his rockabilly-influenced sound with the Grammy-winning song The Gambler. As if that’s not enough he is also a photographer, record producer, actor, entrepreneur, and author. Hats off!

She was an American sweetheart who is still dear to us and particularly to the Houston people. She was a Disney child idol who unlike many of her teen-starlet peers, matured into a grown-up actress. She too wears many hats among them actor, singer, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and author. She is creative and versatile which are some of the best attributes to have in the entertainment industry. She is the recipient of various accolades, including seven Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, four Teen Choice Awards, and two Young Artist Awards.

5. Lizzo

Lizzo is a singer, rapper, and flutist who has called The Bayou City her home since the age of 10 years. She may have originally come from Detroit, but Houston shaped her. She is the recipient of several awards, including three Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Soul Train Music Awards, a Billboard Music Award, a BET Award, and a Guinness World Record. She made history when she by playing a 200-year-old flute that belonged to James Madison. She got the opportunity to play the priceless crystal flute in Washington, D.C., where the historic instrument is kept by the Library of Congress.

I grew up watching WWF/E and Kane, the Undertaker creeped me out! He used to come out of a coffin and had these scary eyes. I did not like him! As an adult, I have come to know only the best artists invoke the strongest feelings. He is considered to be one of the most popular wrestlers on the planet and with good reason. The name, Undertaker is a household name that made him one of the most popular wrestlers in the world.

7. Billy Gibbons

With a beard as legendary as himself, Billy Gibbons is one notable musician. He is a vocalist and guitarist of the rock band ZZ Top. The band has released over 50 million albums worldwide in its 50-year-long career. His talents know no bounds as his roles in the band have always gone alongside his solo and equally successful career. He has been in several collaborations and has acted on television shows, most notably in Bones. The legend was named the 32nd greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone in 2001.

Born in Houston, Jennifer Garner made a name in the industry. She is very talented and has shown her vast capabilities in everything from TV shows to rom-coms to high-powered roles in more serious dramas. She broke out in the film Alias. Following her role as a CIA agent, she was nominated for several Golden Globe awards and won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Acting comes very easily and naturally to her. She has been commended for portraying her characters in a realistic, charming, and simplistic which makes her very relatable to her viewers.

His church, Lakewood Church which is located in Houston, is among the largest congregations in the United States, averaging about 45,000 attendees per week. His sermons are always sold out and we can only thank God for technology because we get to see the handsome man of God on our TVs. He is also a best seller having sold reportedly 3 million hardcover copies around the world.

10. Travis Scott

The single ‘Antidote’ from his album ‘Rodeo’ propelled his career to a bright future. It easily became a hit reaching the top 20 US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His second album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight and a collaborative album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho turned out great too. His relationship with Kylie has also brought him more fame. The two have two children.
