Nicholas Tse, an actor, and singer were born in Hong Kong to legendary actors Patrick Tse Yin and Deborah Lee. He made his award-winning screen debut in Young and Dangerous: The Prequel (1998), which earned him Best New Performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards when he was only 16 years old. Tse had significant success with difficult characters in films such as Metade Fumaca (1999) and Bodyguards and Assassins (2000). (2009). The latter earned him Best Supporting Actor nominations at the Asian Film Awards and the Hong Kong Film Awards, as well as Best Supporting Actor nominations at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards. He won Best Supporting Actor at the Hundred Flowers Awards for New Police Story (2004). 

He won Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2011 for The Stool Pigeon (2010), Tse’s most recent films are The Viral Factor (2012), As the Light Goes Out (2013), and From Vegas to Macau (2014).

He studied martial arts from Philip Ng, Andy On, and Sammo Hung, stunts from Jackie Chan, and movie and television martial skills from Chung Chi Li.

2. He made his film debut in 1998

Tse made his feature film debut in 1998 with the crime picture Young and Dangerous: The Prequel, for which he won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Performer. The Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Performer is an annual Hong Kong industry award given to new actors or actresses for their outstanding performance. The performance is frequently, but not always, the artist’s debut part.

3. He founded the post-production office limited

On 28 October 2016, Tse was named the first “Friend of Michelin,” which is an award given to non-professional chefs and restaurateurs who have earned a Michelin star. On 30 November 2017, he prepared the dessert course for A Night Among the Stars, a seven-course gala dinner with Michelin-starred chefs Alain Ducasse, Kwong Wai-keung, Tam Kwok-Fung, Fabrice Vulin, Hidemichi Seki, and Noah Sando.

Nicholas Tse is the host of Chef Nic  (Ê®¶þµÀähζ), a food travelogue shot in countries ranging from Africa to Finland and featuring international and Asian celebrity guests. Tse explores outstanding food and culturally distinct meals in each episode, while also developing his recipes. Tse’s culinary love may be reflected in his bakery, two cookie brands, and his eponymous line of cooking equipment, in addition to his show.

Tse has had his fair share of run-ins with “paparazzi.” Tse was accused of striking a Sudden Weekly magazine photographer outside a restaurant in Taiwan, hurting his nose and elbow.  The two parties gathered before the Taipei District Court in an attempt to reach an agreement in front of the authorities. Despite Tse’s denial of the assault complaint, a settlement was reached in July 2002. 

7. He rekindled his relationship with Faye Wong

In the late 1990s, Tse began dating musician Faye Wong, who was 11 years his senior. They split up in 2002. Later on, Tse acknowledged his relationship with actress Cecilia Cheung in an interview with Hong Kong commercial radio station 881/903 on July 31, 2006. After he was caught wearing his wedding ring at Hong Kong International Airport on September 29, 2006, confirming that he and Cecilia Cheung had married in a secret wedding ceremony in Pamalican, Philippines. They have two sons: Lucas, born on August 2, 2007, and Quintus, born on May 12, 2010. Tse allegedly filed for divorce from Cheung on June 14, 2011, and he subsequently revived his relationship with Faye Wong in 2014, after she divorced her second husband in 2013. As of 2020, Tse and Faye Wong are still living together.

8. His musical style is Cantopop rock nature

Most of Tse’s songs were Cantopop rock in nature, such as his top singles “front, rear, left, right”, “Exposure”, and “Lonely Base”. He has performed several duets with fellow Cantopop singers, including “Love” with Charlene Choi, “Second Life”, “Amen”, all with Joey Yung, “Kid”  with Eason Chan, “You Can’t Stop Me” with Sam Lee and Stephen Fung, and “Beauty and the Beast” with Meilin.

Cantopop is a type of pop music written in standard Chinese and sung in Cantonese. It also refers to the cultural milieu in which it is produced and consumed. Examples of some of the most significant figures in the Cantopop industry other than Tse include; Faye Wong, Sammi Cheng, Kelly Chen, Eason Chan, Leo Ku, Miriam Yeung, Joey Yung, and Twins.

9. He attended Hong Kong Avenue of Star

Tse attended a Hong Kong Avenue of Stars Hand Improvisation in November 2012. The Avenue of Stars,  which was modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a pedestrian walkway. It runs along the Victoria Harbour beachfront in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It honors Hong Kong film industry celebrities.

10. His wax statues were exhibited along with seven other well-known  Chinese figure

On 12 January 2006, wax statues of Tse were originally exhibited alongside seven other well-known Chinese individuals. They include basketball player Yao Ming and Jackie Chan, at the Madame Tussauds in London.  Furthermore, the wax statues of both Tse and his then-wife Cecilia Cheung were revealed in the Shanghai exhibition on 19 June 2006.

A wax sculpture is a representation created with a waxy substance. These are frequently effigies, generally of a famous person. They are also death masks and scenarios with several characters, mostly in relief.
