Art Stock 20 is a warehouse which was originally build in 1917 and is located behind the old Taichung Railway Station. Over one hundred year now, it kept the old Japanese structure and it is designated a second degree historical site.

It was one of the series of program renovating local old spaces for new purposes. Now the warehouse is used for art and creation, and literature. Let’s take a look at some of the most fascinating facts about it;

The warehouse was leased and became a new art center in the center of Taichung. Art Stock 20 is the name for all 7 warehouses. The warehouses were remodeled with old vehicle pieces into a modern art like space.

The warehouses each have its own purposes from administration to performances and exhibition, even art related classes. It is one of the best art centers in Taichung, Taiwan and one which is rich in culture. 

2. Art Stock 20 opens in different hours in different days

The warehouse has recommended stay time of 60minutes and is open on various days and different times. The opening hours are; Tue- Sun: 11:00 – 18:00, Sat: 10:00 – 20:00 and is closed on Monday. 

The ware house also offers several facilities including ; Administration, Exhibition, Shops and Cafe. There are also additional activities like regular exhibitions and is free of charge. There are several available parking areas in the Taichung Railway Station and offers up to 242 vehicle parking lot.

The Art Stock 20 is located behind the old Taichung Railway station and one has to get to get to Taichung Railway Station and follow the sign to Art Stock 20 to reach at the Warehouse, this is one of the easiest ways to get to the Art Stock warehouse. 

It located in No. 6-1, Lane 37, Section 4, Fuxing Road, East District, Taichung City, Taiwani 401 and it is approximately a five minute walk from the Taichung Railway station which is one of the most popular landmark near the warehouse.

The warehouse also has several land marks near it including; the Taichung Railway station which is 0.2 km away, Daqing station 4.1km away , Chonglun park 2.5km away , Zhonghua Rd. night market 1.3km and Kuangsan SOGO Dept. Store which is 3.1km away.

There are total of 7 old warehouses from 20 to 26 which originally belong to the Railway. The warehouse was leased and became a new art center in the center of Taichung. Art Stock 20 is the name for all 7 warehouses.

7. Art Stock 20 is consisted of a lane of art galleries, studios and cafes

The Art Stock 20 is consisted of a lane of art galleries, studios and one or two cafes. Most of the studios and galleries are always open. There is a variation of art and its just quite a nice walk. There are several artists making clay in the area and are very friendly and one can feel at home because of its hospitality. 

The artists that work here are very industrious and produce original, varied and beautiful work. Free admittance makes this exhibition even more attractive. The rotating gallery, make it easier for visitors see better exhibits.

8. It was renamed to Art Stock 20 after the warehouses were refurbished

In the summer of 1998,the authorities leased the warehouses  20 to 26 of Taichung station from Taiwan Railways. After the refurbishment planning it was renamed “Warehouse number 20- Taichung Station of Railway Art Website “, providing artists with free creative space. 

It was renamed to Art Stock 20 to represent all 7 warehouses and they currently offer different types of services ranging from gallery  to cafes. They art in this place makes it one of the best places to visit in Taichung for those who love Culture. 

9. The Warehouse has transformed the railway to a transportation of culture and art

The Art Stock 20 warehouse has transformed the Taichung railway station from the transportation of people and good to transportation of Culture and Art. In the future whether going North or South one can arrive at the train station earlier. 

One can also come to Art stock 20 for a leisurely cup of coffee or to experience the artworks on display in the area. The coffee and tea in this place is a whole new experience as a whole as it is one of the best.
