1. 1940s J. Wray & Nephew
This is the most expensive ram ever produced and auctioned in the world. The J.Wray & Nephew was founded as “The Shakespeare Tavern” in Kingston, Jamaica. It was John Wray who opened it in 1825.
The 1940s J. Wray & Nephew was distilled for 70 years before being bottled and distributed in the market. Each bottle costs $54, 000.
2. Barbados Private Estate 1780
The rum remained undiscovered for 231 years. It was David Lascelles, the 8th Earl of Harewood and a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II who discovered the stash. To be exclusive, the rum was prepared in 1780.
The servants of the first Earl of Harewood, Edward Lascelles were the ones who distilled and barreled rum. The rum was later shipped to the Earl’s home in England where it was bottled and stored in the cellar.
The bottles were made from hand-blown glasses and the rum was auctioned at Christie’s making history as one of the most expensive rum to be auctioned at that price at the time. A bottle costs $10, 667.
3. Goslings Auld Trophy Rum
Goslings Auld Trophy Rum was made and launched by Gosling Brothers Limited. The $10,000 limited-edition rum was specially created to mark America’s Cup. The rum was produced in a limited run of 166 bottles to mark the years since America’s Cup was first contested in 1851.
Goslings Auld Trophy Rum comes in a handcrafted wooden case. The wooden case is completed with an American walnut framed hinged glass door etched with the AC logo and a map of Bermuda.
4. 50-year-old Appleton Estate
The 50-year-old Appleton Estate was released in 2012 in honor of Jamaica’s 50th celebration of independence. The distribution of 800 bottles was done to mark Jamaica’s 50th celebration of independence.
As a limited edition, the rum is rare and has been aged in oak barrels for 50 years finally giving it a decadent flavor. The 50-year-old Appleton Estate is believed to be the oldest rum in the world to have gone up for sale. A bottle costs $6, 630.
5. 8-year-old Bacardi, Millennium Rum Atlantis Special Edition
The 8-year-old Bacardi, Millennium Rum Atlantis Special Edition is a limited edition decanter produced specifically for the Atlantic resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. As its name goes, the rum was aged for 8 years before bottling. It has a sweet and rich flavor. Each bottle costs $2, 779.
The rum was prepared specifically to celebrate the new millennium. Since the rum was for auction, it does not come in its original box. 3000 bottles were produced.
The rum comes with a certificate of authenticity just to show the amount of preparation, care, and testing that was done to ensure customers had a genuine product.
5. Trois Rivières Millésime 1980 en Carafe Baccarat
Trois Rivières Millésime 1980 en Carafe Baccarat is an incredible single vintage from Trois Rivières, part of the Grands Millesimes range of 11 carefully-selected rums. The Agricole-style rum was distilled on Martinique in 1980.
Trois Rivières Millésime 1980 en Carafe Baccarat has been aged for almost four decades on the island, softening the spirit’s youthful fire and adding layers of complexity. It is an example of a great masterpiece of rum making.
Bottles are priced in pounds and so the price in U.S. dollars will fluctuate with the exchange rate. Trois Rivières Millésime 1980 en Carafe Baccarat goes by the cost of $2, 620.
6. Havana Club Máximo Extra Anejo
Havana Club Máximo Extra Anejo is one of the finest rums ever to be produced. Havana Club Máximo Extra is made from a blend of rare and fine rums sourced from the distiller’s extensive reserves called Havana Club’s cellars. The process of making the rum is long.
The rum was distilled and bottled while maintaining the genuine tradition of Cuban rum production. The process only allows for 1,000 bottles of Havana Club Máximo Extra to be produced every year. Each bottle costs $1, 360.
7. Ron Bacardí de Maestros de Ron, Vintage, MMXII
Ron Bacardí de Maestros de Ron, Vintage, MMXII was founded in 1862. Bacardi was established after Don Facundo Bacardi Masso bought a small distillery. Bacardi produced a limited number of the following rum – Ron Bacardí de Maestros de Ron, Vintage, MMXII to celebrate 150 years of producing high-quality alcohol.
The rum is Combined in 60-year-old cognac casks. It is full-bodied and luxurious with a hint of spice. It has the following notes; raisins, sweet dried tropical fruit, dark chocolate, crème caramel, freshly ground coffee beans, prunes, dried pineapple, and a slight hint of smoky sandalwood. A bottle goes for $2, 000.
8. Rhum Clement
Since 1887, the production of Rhum Clément has been carried out according to the purest traditions. Rhum Clément is crafted in strict observance of the guidelines set forth by the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée. A bottle of Rum Clement 1952 costs $1, 200 per bottle.
Rhum Clément is produced and estate bottled at Habitation Clément in Le Francois, Martinique. Habitation Clément is considered the Mecca of Rhum Agricole production in Martinique and is the only Créole home listed as a historical monument and is entirely open to the public.
9. Black Tot British Royal Naval Rum
Black Tot Rum Last Consignment British Royal Naval Rum is the fourth release from Elixir Distillers in their “Black Tot” series that I have reviewed. It was, however, the first one the Elixir Distillers released. A bottle of Black Tot British Royal Naval Rum costs $850.
Black Tot Rum Last Consignment British Royal Naval Rum is a blend of various flagons of genuine Navy rum. Sukhinder Singh of The Whisky Exchange and avid collector of fine and rare spirits made the British Royal Naval Rum blend from different flagons.
10. Zafra 30-Year-Old Rum
The Zafra rum distillery adopts its name from the Spanish word for the process of harvesting sugar cane, the Zafra. Following the example set by their excellent 21-year flagship, this limited release of rums is aged 30 years. It is a super premium brown spirit at a fraction of the cost you could expect, in other categories for the equivalent.
Each bottle is individually numbered out of an edition of 6720 from a blend created by widely renowned Panamanian rum master Don Poncho. Complex notes of toffee, creme brulee, gingerbread, cocoa powder, passion fruit, guava, mango, coconut, coffee beans, and sweet spices are woven together in a medium-bodied, supple package. It costs $200.
The are many blends of rums too way expensive but the so far elaborated are the outstanding blends of rums so far so good. There are many other rums like; Barbados Private Estate 1780, Pyrat Rum Cask 1623, and Bacardí Paraíso.
