Grenada is an island country in the West Indies in the Caribbean sea at the southern end of Grenadines Island chain. Its capital is St. George’s. Grenada is also known as the “Island of Spice” due to its production of nutmeg and mace crops. The country was inhabited by the indigenous peoples from South America. This was before the arrival of Europeans in the Americans.

1. Kirani James
James has been a Grenadian professional sprinter who specializes in the 200 and 400 metres. He was born in 1992. James has won the 400m at the world championship in 2011 and 2012 London Olympics.
He became the first athlete to win three medals in the 400 meter event’s century-long history . This was when he also won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. James has been the first and only Olympic medalist from Grenada.
2. Kurt Felix
Kurt who was born in 1988 has been a Grenadian athlete. He competes in decathlon. Felix was the NCAA 2012 Division I Decathlon champion. And was named the Mountain West Men’s outdoor track and field student-Athlete of the year.
He competed at the 2012 summer olympics and the 2016 summer olympics and won the bronze medal at the 2014 commonwealth games. Kurt Felix participated in the 21st Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting. That was part of the IAAF combined events challenge.
He placed second at the meet with a score of 8509 points and set a meeting record in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 72.80m. In 2018 at the National Sports Awards, Kurt received the Presidential Award of Merrit for 2017 from the Grenada Olympic Committee.
He opened his 2018 Season by taking part in the Hepathlon competition at the World Indoor Championships but did not finish. He then competed in the Commonwealth Games where he finished fourth in the decathlon with 7756 points.
3. Kithson Bain
Bain has been a Grenadian footballer currently playing for Caledonia AIA in the Trinidad and Tobago Premier League. He was born 1982. Kithson Bain has been capped at full international level by the Grenada national football team.
Bain has represented Grenada both on the full international stage and at the Under 23 level. He was declared a joint winner of the Digicel Golden Boot award for the 2010 Caribbean Championship.
Bain was signed by the reigning American second division NASL Conference winner Carolina RailHawks for the 2011 season after making an impression for Grenada in The Caribbean Cup.
4. Sonika
Sonika Keturah Jermina Mckie who is simply known as Sonika is a Grenadian singer, songwriter and a recording artist. She is based in the Eastern Caribbean Island of Grenada. Sonika was born in 1988.
Her vocal range has been referred to by her vocal coach, Ken Tamplin as being in the top five (5) percentile of all of his students and he has had over 10, 000 students worldwide.Sonika tends to write lyrics that are very self-reflective, particularly her R&B music.
5. Mighty Sparrow
Slinger Francisco who is better known as Mighty Sparrow who was born in 1935. He is a Trinidadian Calypso vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. Sparrow has been also known as the Calypso king of the world. He has been one of the best-known and most successful calypsonians.
Mighty sparrow has won Trinidad’s carnival road march competition eight times, calypso king/ monarch eight times and also twice won the calypso king of kings title. His lyrics are famous for being witty, ironic and ribald. He sings flirtatiously of the attractions of Hispanic women in “Margarita”, and of East Indian women in “Marajhin”.
6. Andrea St. Bernard
Andrea who was born in 1979 in St George’s, Grenada has been a Grenadian taekwondo competitor. She studied at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, where she played for the Dukes volleyball team. Andrea attended law school at the University of Toronto and after graduating began working for McMillan LLP as a debt financing associate. She is 1.75 metres (5 ft 9 in) tall and is coached by Paul Beard.
St. Bernard was introduced to taekwondo during her time at law school by her aunt, who holds a black belt in the sport. She began training at the Young Choung Academy in Toronto.
7. Nelon Pascal
Pascal is a cricketer who has represented the west Indies in Tests and One Day Internationals (ODI). He was born in 1987 in St. David’s Grenada Nelon Pascal is a fast bowler who bats and bowls right handed. His main first-class and List A cricket has been for the Windward Islands.He played for the West Indies in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He spent 2008 in England playing club cricket for Boldon CC in the Durham Senior League.
Nelon was selected for the West Indies tour squad to England in 2009 where he played in the warm up matches against Essex and Derbyshire. He made his first international appearance in 2009 in an ODI against Bangladesh, this was followed by two appearances for the Test side in 2010.

Peter Charles David who was born 1957, is a Grenadian politician. He is the Deputy General Secretary of the New National Party (NNP), (Grenada), a member of the House of Representatives from the Town of Saint George constituency, and served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from July 2008 to November 2010. He subsequently served as Minister of Tourism until he resigned from the Cabinet in 2012.
In the general election held on July 8, 2008, David was re-elected from the Town of St. George.The NDC won a majority of seats in this election, and David became Minister of Tourism and Foreign Affairs in the new NDC Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, which was sworn in on July 13.
9. Mark Felix
Felix is a Grenadian-English strongman competitor and regular entrant to the World’s Strongest Man competition. He has participated in a record 17 World’s Strongest Man competitions and has triumphed in a number of international grip competitions. Including the Rolling Thunder World Championships in 2008 and 2009 and the Vice Grip Viking Challenge in 2011 and 2012. Felix is the third most successful strongman participant in history, having taken part in over 100 international events over the course of 19 years.
10. Glynis Robert
Glynis has been a politician from the tri-island nation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique .She is the Political Leader of the National United Front and the first female leader of a political party in Grenada.
Glynis Robert was first elected to parliament in 2003 . And represented the St George South constituency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the House of Representatives of Grenada. The House of Representatives is the lower house of the Parliament of Grenada. It has 15 members, elected for a five-year term in single-seat constituencies.
