Top 10 Facts about Guy- Manuel de Homem- Christo

Guy-Manuel de Homem- Christo was born on 8th February 1974 in the 麻豆APP suburb of Neuilly- sur- Seine. He is a French record producer, singer, musician, songwriter, DJ, film director, and composer.

He is said to be of Portuguese aristocratic descent; with his grandfather being a writer and fascism advocate Homem Cristo Filho before he passed on and his great grandfather being the military figure Francisco Manuel Homem Cristo. Guy- Manuel has a younger brother named Paul de Homem- Christo.

Guy- Manuel has produced many works from his record label Crydamoure with label co-owner Eric Chedeville. He is also greatly known as one half of the former French house Music duo Daft Punk, along with Thomas Bangalter. He is a father of two a daughter and son and later divorced his wife.

1. How is Music Interest Started?

At his childhood age, his Portuguese grandfather being a poet it is believed that guy- Manuel must have probably learned a lot about songwriting from his grandfather. At one time during an interview, he said that at the age of 7 years he had already owned a guitar and keyboard.

 Later on, at the age of 14 years, he was given an electric guitar. He revealed that he used a guitar when writing music. Later joined Lycee school and met friends they teamed together and did much.

2. How Homem- Christo Met Thomas Bangelter

While Homem- Christo was attending the Lycee school in 1987 it is when he met his friend Thomas Bangalter. They build a friendship at first until they realized they shared a common interest in the films and music of the 1960 and 鈥�70s which his friend referred it as 鈥榲ery basic cult teenager things, from Easy Rider to the Velvet underground鈥�.

It was still that time when the two together with Laurent Brancowitz joined and formed an indie rock trio called Darlin. Homem- Christo was the one performing the guitar. And they later co-founded Daft Punk.

3. He is Co-founder of Le Knight Club and Crydamoure

Homem- Christo together with Eric Chedeville from Pumpking Records co-founded the group Le Knight Club. They are founders of the record label Crydamoure which was named after a variation of the French phrase 鈥淐ri d鈥� Amour鈥� meaning 鈥渃ry of love鈥� in English.

Homem- Christo’s younger brother Paul’s works were published by the Crydamoure under the name 鈥淧lay Paul鈥�. Concerning Crydamoure, Homem- Christo made his regards stating that he and Thomas a friend he met in school have similar tastes in music.

He continued to say that when he makes a record for Crydamoure it would be a different style than what may end up as Daft punk music which was founded by him and his friend.

He continues to say that Crydamoure is not production oriented even if it鈥檚 not too far from Daft Punk which is more orchestrated and slightly different.

4. He is the Producer of Sebastian Tellier

Homem- Christo in the year 2008, produced Sebastian Tellier’s album titled 鈥淪exuality鈥�. Two years later, he worked with Sebastian on the Kavinsky song titled 鈥淣ight call鈥�.

In the year 2012, Sebastien featured him in his album 鈥楳y God is Blue on the track 鈥淢y Pseidon鈥�

5. Daft Punk was Founded by Homem- Christo

Daft punk was a French electronic music duo formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem- Christo. It was widely known as one of the most influential acts in dance music history.in the late 1990s, they gained fame as part of the French house movement.

Its second album Discovery released in 2001 had greater success being supported by hit singles 鈥淥ne More Time鈥�, 鈥淗arder, Better, Faster, Stronger鈥� and 鈥淒igital love鈥�

6. Breaking up With Thomas Bangalter

On 22nd February 2021, Daft Punk released a video announcing their breakup. It is however noted that the two had no interest in discussing their private lives.

Other friends and collaborators such as Todd Edwards addressed that Homem- Christo and Thomas however much they separated still maintain an active relationship separately.

7. Homem- Christo Divorce

Homem- Christo like many others had a thriving relationship with his wife and they were blessed with two kids, a daughter, and a son. Years later, their marriage started collapsing they called for a divorce in the year 2010.

There cause of divorce is not known as Homem- Christo is said to be a celebrity who does not share his private life in public.

8. Being Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 and Other Recognitions

After the release of Daft Punk鈥檚 fourth album Random Access Memories, Homem- Christo together with his partner Thomas collaborated on two tracks with the weeknd titled 鈥淪tar boy鈥� and 鈥淚 feel it coming鈥�.

The tracks gained the duo their first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with 鈥淪tarboy鈥� a collaboration with the Weeknd. Rolling stone in the year 2015 ranked them the 12th greatest musical duo of all time. Later it was co-written by Chedeville of Le Knight club and peaked at number four.

9. Awards Awarded to Homem- Christo

Daft punk which was founded by Homem- Christo made so many albums and gained much fame. But in the years 2006 and 2007 they released the live album 鈥楢live 2007鈥� which won a Grammy Award for the best electronic dance album. This tour made dance music popular in North America.

In 2013, daft punk released another film album 鈥淩andom Access Memories鈥� which was recorded in Columbia. In that album, a single song titled 鈥楪et Lucky鈥� became a top 10 on the charts of 27 countries. The album won five Grammy Awards in the year 2014 including Album of the year and Record of the year.

10. Albums and Tracks he has Produced

Homem- Christo has recorded so many albums including Waves in 2000, waves II in 2003, and sexuality by Sebastien Tellier in 2008 amongst many others. For tracks, he has made several being credited as the Composer producer.

An example of tracks he has made includes 鈥淪ee Me Now鈥� which was released in 2006, 鈥淢y Poseidon鈥� released in 2012, 鈥淣ight call鈥� in the year 2013, 鈥淩est鈥� in the year 2017, and 鈥淗urt You鈥� among many other which he released in 2018.

In this industry, he has done great, achieved a lot, and made so many collaborations with people including Kavinsky and Eric Chedeville and they have done and achieved a lot.
