Adolf Hitler has been termed as one of the worst dictators in the history of mankind. The mention of his name ignites images of mass murder, misery, warfare, and the holocaust.
He rose to power as an influential leader of the Nazi party becoming the councilor in 1933.
During the duration of his dictatorship, he fueled and ignited World War 2 in Europe by forcefully invading Poland.
He was the central figure in the perpetuation of the holocaust that saw millions of lives swept away to the graves as a result of the ideologies of a mad man.
Hitler believed the world will remember him, much like Genghis Khan, a brave warrior but the footprints he left are filled with horrors and his name sends chills down any human for the atrocities he committed in his brief life.

1.He was an Austrian
Hitler’s atrocities and ideals were rooted and aimed at making Germany a great nation, but he didn’t originate from Germany. He was born in Austria- Hungary and was raised near Linz.
He was influenced by the tutelage of his high school teacher, Leopold Poetsch, who had a strong German nationalism sensibility.
As he grew, his hatred for the Austro-Hungarian empire took deep roots. It was from this hatred that he also solidified his life and loyalty to Germany. Hitler’s family moved to Linz when he was three years old.
Hitler developed his obsession with Germany from a young age, he followed many of the nation’s customs along with his friends.
It is said that he sang the national anthem of Germany instead of Austria. In 1914, while still a resident of Munich he managed to enlist in the Bavarian Army before renouncing his Austrian citizenship without any regrets in 1925, making him a German citizenship
2.He was an aspiring artist
The world is truly an unpredictable place, Hitler in an attempt to fulfill his dream applied to the Academy of fine arts Vienna where he failed their test twice and was eliminated from joining the academy.
The dejected Hitler was advised by the school to apply for the school of architecture, unfortunately, he lacked the required academic credentials since he hadn’t finished secondary school.
3.He lived in homeless shelters
It is hard to imagine the ruthless and apathetic dictator being once homeless, but the fact is that he faced trials of his own.
With a failure to join his dream school and pursue arts, he was slapped by events of misfortune and faced financial difficulties.
When misery rains, it pours, he was further heartbroken when his mother, his sole supporter financially and emotionally died of breast cancer at the age of 47 when he was just 18 years. In 1909 run out of money for upkeep and was forced to rely on homeless shelters.
He lived in a public dormitory for men until 1913 when his luck finally smiled upon him and he received his father’s inheritance and moved to topstitch.
4.He was saved from drowning by a priest

When Adolf Hitler was four years old, he fell into the River Inn in Passau, southern Germany. It is said that he was playing with his friends when he fell into the icy cold river.
While gasping for air, he was saved by Johann Kuehberger, a priest whose kind act betrayed the force of nature when he saved the life of the young boy, unknown to him he would turn out to be a historical villain.
Though Hitler never confirmed the story himself, a German newspaper from 1894 provided evidence of the event.
5.He was once temporarily blind
On October 15th, 1918 during World War 1, he was caught up in a mustard gas attack on the camp, which left him temporarily blinded for a while.
He was hospitalized in Pasewalk in Germany, and it’s here he heard of the bitter truth of the defeat of Germany and the armistice with Britain and France.
He reportedly gave an account of how the shocking news of Germany’s defeat almost gave him second temporary blindness’.
6.He was obsessed with his half-niece

Though it’s no surprise that Hitler was mentally messed up, what is even more bizarre is that he was infatuated with his half-niece, Geli Raubal.
Geli was just 17 when Hitler took interest in her and the two began a forbidden love affair many suggest the young Gellis’s choices were limited in the presence of the dictator.
It believed Geli had a relationship with Hitler’s chauffeur, Emil Maurice. Upon discovering the affair, he fired Maurice.
He started limiting and constantly monitoring the movement of the young lady, and she ended up taking her own life as a way to escape from the misery and predicament she found herself in.
Many believe it was this tragedy that turned the already cruel leader into a beast with no humanity left in his cells.
7.His family physician was a Jew
Hitler will forever be remembered as the ruthless figure behind the holocaust, where millions of Jews and other people lost their lives.
One of the shocking facts about the dictator is that his family physician, Eduard Bloch was an Austrian Jew, the very people Hitler was trying to eliminate from the face of the planet.
The doctor notably took care of Adolf Hitler and his family. These acts of kindness are what spared him and his family from the mass massacre and Hitler even referred to him as a noble Jew.
8.He never visited a concentration camp

Despite being the leading architect of the horrendous plan of the holocaust he never visited a single death camp nor did he bother to find out the conditions of the people he deemed unworthy to walk on the very same earth he lived in
9.He was imprisoned for five years
Hitler along with his followers attempted to overthrow the government of Bavaria in southern Germany by carrying out a coup de tat which is famously remembered as the Beer Hall Putsch.
The coup d’état failed, resulting in the deaths of four cops and 16 members of the Nazi party. Hitler was arrested and convicted of treason.
He spent the next five years atoning for his sins. The Beer Hall Putsch and his trial unveiled him as a national figure. With the limelight, he obtained after his prison term ended, he sought to gain power by rebuilding the Nazi party.
10.He lived with Cryptorchidism
He lived with the condition cryptorchidism, a condition where the testicles fail to descend from the abdomen into the scrum, Hitler’s right testicle didn’t descend giving him the appearance of having one testicle.
