Samuel Yves Um Titi is a 28 year old French professional football player famously known as Samuel Umtiti. He was on the 14th day of November 1993 at Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon. His mother’s name is Mrs. Annie Ngo Um, however his father is unknown. His family was not financially well of, therefore he experienced a lot of difficulties while growing up he plays for the La Liga club Barcelona. ( FC Barcelona)
He started of his professional football career in 2012; he ended up winning both the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions in his first year. In 2016 he was transferred to La Liga club after totaling 170 games and three goals before to. He won three Copa del Rey and two La Liga titles at Barcelona. 1.He came from poverty
When Samuel Umtiti was born at Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon, his parents were not well off. When he was at the tender age of 2 years, his parents were in so much poverty and were not able to prove him with a better life.
His parents therefore moved to Villeurbanne, France. The family decided to settle in Menival district after moving around for a few months; the 5th arrondissement of Lyon where he joined the Menival football club as a young boy.
2.He lived with immigrants from Cameroon
When he was in France, Samuel Umtiti grew up in a large family of immigrants from Cameroon. That same year, Roger Miller and his Cameroonian team were being celebrated as they dominated the center stage in France. This made a huge difference for all Cameroonian immigrants in France. They were now appreciated and valued as black immigrants in France.
3.Umtiti started out as a center forward in the Olympique academy
On 16th August 2011, Umtiti started was made part of the Lyon team. He started out as a center forward but was gradually moved back over the years making his professional debut on 8th January 2012. He made 18 appearances in all completions in his debut season as a center forward. At the end of the season he scored 2 goals, his first being his first career goal in 2013, match against Troyes, and a total of 32 appearances.
4.Umtiti has won several awards
Samuel Umtiti won two titles with Olympique Lyonnais which is the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions in the year 2012. Journalists in Spain went ahead and stated Umtiti was the perfect heir to Puyol, considered best centers. In addition he won both the Sopa del Rey and Supercopa d Espania with Barcelona football club. Under his name he won several accolades.
He also won the 2013 and 2018 FIFA world cup with his French national team. The rest include the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Team of the Tournament in 2012 and the UEFA Championship League Breakthrough XI: 2016
5.He was only 18 when he made his official debut for Olympique
At the very young age of 18 years, Samuel Umtiti made his official debut for Olympique on 8 January 2012 against Lyon Duchère. In addition, at the international level he represented the country under-17 and 21 levels. He was known for his physical strength, Speed and really good at tackling. He was also part of the team that won the U-20 WORLD CUP IN 2013 In February 2015, despite his young age, he wore the captain’s armband for the first time, something which goes to show what a born leader he is.
6.He was a key player in the Olympique defence
He was estimated to having played 97.2% of the minutes in the games as the Olympique defence. According to journalists and reporters he is a powerful defender specifically a left-footed central defender.
In the 2018 ESPN FC Sam Marsden praised Umtiti’s timing and prediction of the game adding he would lead Barcelona’s defence for the next 5-10 years. Umtiti has faced Spanish sides before, the Athletic Bilbao, Betis and Valencia in the Europa League, with four wins, one draw and just one defeat.
7.He signed for Barcelona football club
In 2016, he signed for La Liga side Barcelona for a fee of £25 million. Despite the rumors that his release clause of only €60 million (£53 million) was a low release, especiall as aFrance international’s quality, to be inserted in his contract as was stated by Yahoo Sport UK’s Andrew Gaffney, there has been reports that Samuel’s dream was to be a Barcelona player.
The Canal FC journalist, Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News, was told by the player that he was very happy at the club. Umtiti scored his first goal for thr club in 2017 against Celta de Virgo.
8.Umtiti has made 170 appearances in five seasons for Olympique Lyonnais
Despite his age, the French football player has totaled about 170 appearances in five seasons for Olympique Lyonnais. This includes 131 in Ligue 1, 7 in the Champions League (including 3 qualifiers), 15 in the Europa League (including 2 qualifiers), 8 in the Coupe de France, 8 in the Coupe de la Ligue and 1 in the Trophée des Champions (French Super Cup).
9.He was part of the squad that won the 2018 World Cup

He was later made part of the squad to represent his nation that won the 2018 World Cup. This was after he scored his first international goal in a friendly match against England in 鶹APP in 2017. He scored the only goal of the match in the semi-final against Belgium on 10th July 2018. This was possible despite the fact that he had to sit out the final against Uruguay after he received a red flag,
10.Umtiti made his full international debut for France at Euro 2016
Umtiti made his full international debut for France at Euro 2016. This was during the quarter final playing against Iceland. Umtiti played all 90 minutes of the semi-final against Germany and the final against Portugal. He also won the 2013 and 2018 FIFA world cup with his French national team.
Indeed, the FC Barcelona player has risen through the ranks at Olympique Lyonnais, where he was a first team player for five years, and featured in almost every game last term. From national to international recognition being the first outfield player to earn his first cap for France since at the world cup in 1966. Though his future at Barcelona is not clear he has achieved a lot at his age.
