1. She’s a martial artist
Due to decades and decades of martial art movies from Asian countries, it can be a bit stereotypical to assume all Asian people know a form of martial art but in the case of Pom Klementieff, that assumption would not be wrong.
The actress, for her Hollywood movie debut, took boxing lessons because her role involved martial arts. After the movie, she continued learning the art and, in the summer of 2014, earned the purple belt in Taekwondo.
2. She befriended nomads for a movie scene
It would not be surprising to those who have seen her character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Avengers: Infinity War to know that Pom’s got a quirky personality.
In her first lead role in a film, Loup, a French film about a reindeer herder tribe in the Siberian mountains, Pom stayed in the movie camp and during filming. She also befriended the nomads who lived there, worked with real wolves, rode a reindeer and swam with a horse in a lake.

Klementieff briefly attended law school after her uncle’s death to appease her aunt but did not find the career path appealing.
4. She gives her film character a personal touch
For her role in the low-budget flick Hacker’s Game she did her own makeup and came up with the costuming for her character, even dying her hair purple. Her big break came when she was cast as the empath Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
To complete Mantis’ alien look Pom had to wear all-black contact lenses, which left her worried that Mantis’ emotions might not be so obvious to audiences. The talented star told Interview Magazine she found physical ways to showcase how Mantis was feeling, taking unlikely inspiration from the hand gestures of The Simpsons devious Mr. Burns.
5. She accidentally fell down the stairs on a film role
Klementieff’s first professional acting job was the French independent film Après lui (2007), portraying the stepdaughter of the protagonist played by Catherine Deneuve. 6. She received worldwide recognition playing Mantis

I got my A license and then I got my B license over Christmas break. It really opened a new world to me, it was so exciting to be able to fly, to dance in the sky. It was really amazing.’
9. She travelled widely as a child
While Klementieff was born in Quebec, Canada where they lived for a year, her family started traveling due to her father’s job. The family lived in Japan and the Ivory Coast, before settling in France.
‘I think it helped me to adapt to different cultures, to different worlds and to different types of people. And in some way, it’s funny, because I’ve always felt like an alien, I’ve always felt different. When I lived in Japan, my mother was Korean and I was mixed. I was also not like them when I was in Africa and I was not like them either when I was in France. I was always the person from somewhere else, like an alien, like Mantis.’
10. She does not believe in God

After showcasing her boxing skills during her audition, Lee asked her to go home and come back wearing a more feminine outfit and make-up, like her character in the film.[5][6] She contributed some of her own clothes to the character’s wardrobe, and trained three hours a day for two months for an on-screen fight with star Josh Brolin.
