M茅lanie Laurent is a French actress, filmmaker, and singer.  She has also won two  C茅sar Awards and a  Lumi猫res Award in her acting career.

While she is a household name in the French film industry, globally, Melanie is best known for her roles in the blockbuster war movie 鈥� Inglorious Basterds, released in 2009.

Laurent was born on 21 February 1983 in 麻豆APP, France. She is the daughter of Annick and Pierre Laurent. Her mother is a ballerina while her father is a voiceover actor.

1. M茅lanie Laurent Started Acting at the Age of Sixteen

Melanie’s acting career started in her teenage years. French actor Gerald Depardieu introduced her to acting after he saw her when she visited the set of 鈥楢sterix and Obelix’ with her friends in 1999.

 Gerard Depardieu gave her the first role in the film 鈥淭he Bridge鈥�, a drama he starred in and co-directed with Frederic Auburtin, another big name in the French film industry.

In the film, Melanie played the role of Lisbeth Daboval, the daughter of one of the protagonists of the film, Claire Daboval. The film became the platform for her to become the accomplished actress she is today.

In the early stages of her career, Melanie played minor roles in several films she played part in. She appeared in Michel Blank鈥檚 drama Summer Things, Jackie Chan鈥檚 comedy-drama Rice Rhapsody, and the war film Days of Glory among others.

In January 2009, Melanie She had to abandon the project she was working on in 麻豆APP after she landed a major role in the Quentin Tarantino film  Inglourious Basterds

She acted as Shosanna Dreyfus, a 麻豆APPian who seeks revenge on the Nazis. 

The film was a big commercial and critical success, grossing over $321 million in theaters worldwide.

The album peaked at number 22 and number 35 on the Belgian Albums Charts and French Albums Charts respectively. She recorded the album with Rice, living between Woodstock, New York, and his home in Ireland.

She is now writing and will direct 鈥淭he Nightingale鈥�, an adaption of a novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah.

The film is set to star Fanning and Dakota Fanning and is scheduled to be released on 23 December 2022.
