The NBA draft in 2023 is drawing near, and each NBA team is vying for the top young players available. Each team hopes to get the number one pick so that they can get the best chance to land the number one prospect in the NBA. Since the NBA 2023 draft was announced, Victor Wembanyama has become a household name. French professional basketball player Victor Wembanyama, who plays for Metropolitans 92 of the LNB Pro A, is projected to be selected first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Now with being drafted first overall comes big responsibilities. Honour is not only about pomp and glamour but it has its expectations and Victor is not going to be any exception when he goes first. The hype surrounding players who were selected first in the draft has often faded too quickly, while other players have gone on to achieve great things in their careers.

Wembanyama has been compared to Ralph Sampson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, even though analysts have noted the unorthodox nature of his game. Given his current performance, Victor is predicted to be a standout player, and like Kareem, he is likely to set some records before hanging up his boots for good. He is in high demand as the draft day draws near because he has it. Victor is a defence expert at defence who prefers to let his talent on the court speak for itself.

Wembanyama plays power forward after he agreed to a two-year deal with Metropolitans 92 of the LNB Pro A on July 4, 2022. This gives him an upper edge over other players because he has got a feel of playing competitively. As the 2023 NBA draft beckons, it deems difficult for players to transition to such a highly competitive stage mostly because of the high game intensity. This is not the case for Victor as he has already experienced basketball at a competitive stage. Getting to play for San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama will be able to blend in with the team given that the Spurs have had a long history of drafting international hoopers who have succeeded in the game and Victor will not be an exception.
