10 interesting facts about Kristin Scott Thomas
She is an English actress who was born on 24th May 1960 in Redruth, England. She has French citizenship and is also a BAFTA award winner for best actress in a supporting role for four weddings and a funeral. She began her acting career on stage in 1983 and then progressed to television. She has gone on to establish a successful career in both television and film. She is a mother to three children.

1. Considers herself more French than British

Even though she was born in Redruth, a town in Cornwall England, She has lived in France since she was 19, and raised her three children: Hannah Joseph and George with her French husband for 18 years, therefore, considers herself more French than Britain
She studied acting at École Nationale supérieure des arts et techniques du théâtre (ENSATT) in 鶹APP and after that, she landed her first role in 鶹APP when she was cast as Mary Sharon in under the cherry moon. She speaks French fluently and despite being a British native she holds French citizenship.
2. Her father and stepfather died in similar circumstances.
Her mother Deborah Scott Thomas was married to Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas who was a pilot in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. He died in a flying accident when she was five. It’s reviled he was flying a sea vixen jet when exploded after crashing into the sea.
Her mother remarried to another pilot of the Royal Navy, Lieutenant Commander Simon Idiens of the aerobatic team flying, who also died in a flying accident, flying a Phantom FC 1 off the North Cornwall coast six years after the death of her father.
3. She is the eldest sister to Serena Scott Thomas
The famous actor, Serena Scott Thomas is an English actress and documentary producer who is known for her representation of Diana, prince of Whale in the television miniseries Diana. She is a sister to Kristin Scott Thomas. Their mother, Deborah Scott Thomas gave birth to Sister Kristin Scott Thomas on 24 May 1960 and then to Serena Scott Thomas on 21 September 1961. Their father was a navy pilot who died in a plane crash while in the line of duty.
Serena was married to her husband J.Tepper with whom they have a daughter, she now lives in Vinnie Tor rich in Los Angeles.
4. Her first role was with Prince

She was requested to audition for the lead role in the romantic musical comedy-drama film known as Under the Cherry Moon. This was after she had auditioned for a minor role but was noticed and got to play the lead role with the prince. Prince was a music icon in the 80s who wanted to make a film in France and needed local actors so that he may not import English speakers from elsewhere.
The film was her first lead role at around the age of twenty-five. Even though the film was not widely recognized, it won five golden raspberry awards.
5. She is Divorced
She was married to Olivennes a French gynaecologist with whom they had three children Hannah (born 1988), Joseph (born 1991), and George (born 2000), the couple divorced in 2005 and Olivennes is currently living in 鶹APP. The marriage lasted 18 years and she keeps her relationship status private
6. She is an OBE and DBE
She was appointed officer of the Order Of British Empire in 2003 at the queen’s birthday honour, this took place in 2003. In 2015 at the New Year Honor she was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British emperor, the honours were in recognition and appreciation of her service to drama. It is not only in the U.K where she is recognized and given order honours but also in France. The French government awarded her an upgraded Le’gion d’honneur in France’s traditional Bastille Day Honours.
7. She has won several awards

Throughout her career, she was nominated for different awards including the four Olivier Awards for the best actress for the Royal court revival of the Seagull before winning one in 2008. She won BAFTA awards for the best-supporting actress role in the four weddings and a funeral”.
She has also won an academy award for Best Actress for the 1996 Film “The English patient”. Furthermore, she has also won a European Film Award for Best Actress for the 2008 Film “I’ve loved you so long”.
8. She trained to become a drama teacher
On leaving school in 1987, she moved to Hampstead, London, and worked in a department store. She began training to become a drama teacher at the Central School of speech and drama, during her time in school she requested to switch degrees to acting but she was refused. The school offered a form of training for speech and drama for young actors and students.
9. Her father died when she was young
Her mother, Deborah Scott Thomas was raised in Africa and Hong, She was a drama student before meeting Lieutenant Commander Scott Thomas. The couple married and had Kristin and her sister. Sadly when Kristin was just for years of age, her father was tragically killed in a flying accident in 1964.
10. She was told she would never be a good actor

Educated at Cheltenham Ladies College, She was told by the Royal Central school of speech and drama that she would never be a good actor so she left to work as an au pair in 鶹APP, where she studied drama. After graduating she was cast as a prince Heiress opposite the pop star price in the 1986 film Under the cherry moon”
