Leah is a professional footballer from England who currently captains the England women’s national team and plays for the Women’s Super League club Arsenal. Williamson joined Arsenal’s development program at the age of nine and made her senior squad debut as a teenager at the conclusion of their 2014 Champions League season.

Williamson is one of the athletes who has advanced through all age categories. Before making her senior debut in 2018, Williamson played for England in all of their age-group teams for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

In her initial years with England, she saw little action before becoming a regular under manager Sarina Wiegman, who also appointed her as permanent captain in 2022.

4. She comes from a divided footballing family

In 2006, she was chosen as the mascot for the Arsenal men’s team in a league cup match against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. Despite being on holiday, her mother drove her the 430-mile round trip from Bude to ensure her dream was fulfilled, and she was rewarded with a photo with Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.

6. Leah is versatile and less prone to injuries

She finished Euro 2022 having recovered the ball 56 times and having made 472 passes. Both of which were more than any other player in the competition.

Williamson had been studying to become an accountant, but she apparently stopped her coursework to concentrate on football.
She maintains close friendships with Keira Walsh of Barcelona and her international teammate Alex Scott, both of whom played for Arsenal in the past.

Williamson and Walsh progressed through every junior rank together before being called up for the first time as seniors on the same day in 2017. 

Williamson has spoken about her endometriosis to raise awareness of the disruptive ailment and the need for better symptom-relieving therapies. Her endometriosis made her anxious to play while she was menstruating.
