The castle is located in Kv忙rndrup, the south island of Funen, Denmark. It is the best-preserved Renaissance water castle in Denmark. Egeskov was initially thought of in 1405. In 1554, its structure was constructed by Friends Brockenhuus.

The castle was constructed on oaken piles. Initially to access the castle people used the drawbridge. In the construction of the foundation, the castle took an entire forest of oak trees to build.

In 1784, it belonged to The Bille-Brahe family. The family acquired it from the Brockenhuus family. The castle was inherited in 1882 by Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, who still owns it.

1. Egeskov Castle has Two Long Buildings

The two long buildings at the castle are connected by a thick double wall. These walls allowed defenders during the war to shift from one building to another to continue fighting.

The double walls are over one meter thick and have secret staircases and a well. Defenders of the castle were able to attack the enemies from the two round corners of the towers. The castle had Other defense techniques such as artillery ports, scalding holes, and arrow slits.

2. The Castle has a Massive Iron Chest from 16th Century

The castle has a massive iron chest that dates back to the 16th century. The iron chest was derived from Hvedholm Castle which was early owned by the Egeskov estate twenty kilometers to the west.

The castle also has oil paintings,  this painting includes the paintings of Niels Juel. Who helped to defeat the Swedish force in the K酶ge Bay battle in 1677.

The park features fountains, a gravel path, and topiary figures. The park is also surrounded by a fuchsia garden which is one of the largest in Europe. The garden has 104 different species. The castle also has various gardens such as the English garden, a water garden, a herb garden, a vegetable garden, and a peasant鈥檚 garden.

The castle has the largest bamboo maze in the world. The maze resembles a Chinese tower at the center and a bridge from the tower provides an exit from the maze. The park also resembles a three-meter-tall building that was designed by a Danish poet and mathematician called Piet Hein.

The castle estate also has eight square kilometers of forest and the rest is farmland. In 1986, a replica of the building was built in Hokkaid艒, Japan, to host an aquarium. The replica was constructed following permission from Egeskov鈥檚 owners.

The castle has three modern buildings, which have a vintage automobile collection including the vintage motorcycle collection, the Falck collection, and also a collection of airplanes and helicopters. The castle which is located in South Funen is 460-year-old. Egeskov Castle was constructed by sheriff Friends Brockenhuus and was completed in 1554.

The castle was built because in Denmark there were a lot of riots. These riots led the landowners to build castles for protection since they were difficult to enter and occupy. The Egeskov Castle was built in the middle of a lake. The castle has various events throughout the year these events include the LUMINIS, Sankthansaften, MC-meeting, Egeskov Christmas market, and Halloween.

The yellow room dates back to the 18th century which is evidence of Louis XVI’s expensive furniture style. The items in the room were gifts for Jessie Bille-Brahe at her wedding in 1875. The room is filled with candles due to the lack of electricity in the room. The yellow room also has a Viennese clock which features a small musical organ Within its frames. The doors of these rooms are coated with gold leaves.

The garden of life is one of the unique gardens in Egeskov Castle. The garden is located at the entrance of the castle and near the playground. It symbolizes the passage of time through its circular structure, the fountains, and the installation.

The garden was created to instill in the visitors a sense of peace. The garden also tickles the visitor’s senses through shapes, smells, colors, and scents through the different seasons. And is divided into different sections according to different seasons. It is one of the best infrastructures in the country.
