10 Greatest Football Players from Denmark
The Danish men’s national team represents Denmark in the international men’s soccer tournament.
Interestingly the Danish team won the Football at the 1906 Intercalated Games and also won silver medals at the Olympics Games in 1908,1912 and 1960.
However, Denmark did not qualify for the FIFA World Cup until the year 1986 and the team is currently ranked 13th in the FIFA rankings.
The current national team shows signs of a bright future by representing some of Europe’s top clubs and it also qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022 where its first match is against Tunisia.

1. Gustav Tang Isaksen

However, technically there is plenty of room for improvement with finishing, ball control, and dribbling attributes all in the mid-60s but given time there is no doubt he will develop into a serious player.
4. Mikkel Krogh
Mikkel scored two goals at Euro 2020 including the opener against England and he announced himself as Denmark’s next big thing after starting the tournament as a relatively unknown entity.
Mikkel is 21 years old and he is currently playing his trade in Italy with Sampdoria where he is already closing in on 50 league appearances.
Typically deployed on the left wing he is ridiculously quick with 90 accelerations and 82 sprint speed.
However, in one on one situations, he is able to utilize his 82 dribbling, 80 ball control, and 4-star skill moves and when space is at a minimum he has the balance and agility to ride tackles and strength to hold off defenders.
5. Joakim Pedersen
Pedersen is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a fullback for Serie A club Atlanta and the Denmark national team.
He made his Denmark national team debut on 5th September 2020 in a Nations League game against Belgium.
He scored his first international goal in a friendly against the Faroe Islands on 7th October 2020. However, in June 2021 he was included in the national team’s bid for the 2020 UEFA Euro where the team reached the semifinals.
And on 12th October 2021, Pedersen scored the only goal as Denmark defeated Austria to secure a place at the World Cup in Qatar.
6. Mathias Jensen
Jensen is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Premier League club Brentford and the Denmark national team.
He made 30 appearances and scored 3 goals for Denmark between U18 and U21 levels. He was named in the senior team’s preliminary 35-man squad for the 2018 World Cup but he was not included in the final squad.
Jensen made his international debut with a start in a 4-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands on 7th October and scored his first full international goal on his fifth cap in an 8-0 2022 World Cup qualifying win over Moldova on 28th March 2021.
7. Alexander Bah
Bah is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Benfica and the Denmark national team.
However, after coming through Naeby’s youth academy he was promoted to the first team in 2016 and later represented fellow Danish side HB Koge and spent two years with SonderjyskE in Danish Superliga.
In January 2021 he joined Slavia Prague where he won the Czech First League and Czech Cup in 2021 and was named the Czechs First League Defender of the season in 2022 then transferred to Benfica for 8 million Euros.
Bah is among the team players that will be taking part in the FIFA World Cup 2022 representing Denmark.
8. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Pierre is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur and the Denmark national team.
He started his career as a youth for Danish clubs such as BK Skjold, F.C. Copenhagen, and Brondby IF before joining the German club Bayern Munich in 2012.
He made his senior debut for the reserves that year and his professional debut for the first team in April 2013 at the age of 17 which made him the youngest player in the Bundesliga.
Pierre was a youth international at various levels from under 16 to under 21. However, he will be taking part in the FIFA World Cup 2022 representing his country.
9. Kasper Schmeichel
Kasper is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Ligue 1 club Nice and the Denmark national team.
He began his career with Manchester City but had loan spells with Bury, Darlington, and Falkirk before he made his first-team debut.
He made 479 competitive appearances for Leicester over 11 years during the most successful era in the club’s history winning the Championship in the 2013-14 season, the Premier League in 2015-16, FA Cup in 2020-21, and the FA Community Shield in 2021.
He represented his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2020 and he is also taking part in FIFA World Cup 2022.
10. Christian Eriksen
Eriksen is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United and the Denmark national team.
However, his renowned for his vision, technique, passing, and free-kick ability. He began his senior club career at the age of 18 in 2010 playing for Ajax where he won three Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup.
He made his senior international debut for Denmark in 2010 and has earned over 110 caps including appearing in four major tournaments he also was the youngest player at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
