Top 10 Outstanding Facts About Jerry Yan

Jerry Yan was born in Liao Yangzhen in Taoyuan, Taiwan. He is a Taiwanese model, actor and Getsinger. Jerry Yan was well recognized for his role as Daoming Si in the Taiwanese dramas Meteor Garden and Meteor Garden II. He was also a former member of a group called boy band.

Jerry Yan was involved in an on-and-off relationship with model Lin Chi-ling for many years. In 2017 he admitted to reuniting with Lin. Lin Chi-ling neither confirmed nor denied the reunion of her with him, after one year, Jerry refused to comment and Lin denied dating him.

1. He was Raised By a Single Mother

Having been in an ordinary 鈥� humble background, Jerry Yan and his sister were raised and brought up by their mother. When he was young,  he was forced to work in any available jobs to help his mother to cater for their day-to-day expenses.

But during the modelling competition for UNO magazine. That’s when things in his life started to pick up. After he won the modelling competition.

2. His Real Name is Liao Yangzhen

Jerry Yan was born Liao Yangzhen. He was from Atayal which is also known as the Tayal. The total population of the Atayal people Is around 90,000, which is approximately 15.9% of the Taiwanese鈥檚 total indigenous population.

The Atayal people are the third-largest indigenous group in Taiwan. The preferred indigenous name is 鈥淭ayal鈥� but they are officially recognized by the Taiwanese government as “Atayal”.

3. Jerry Yan Starred in the Starlit Series

 In the year 2009,  Yan starred in Starlit. It was co-produced by China鈥檚 China Central Television, Taiwan鈥檚 Jam Entertainment and Japan鈥檚 Geneon Entertainment. The series also won 鈥淏est Overseas Drama鈥� awards which were presented by Sky Perfect TV Award.

The same year, Jerry released his second solo album titled, Freedom. The album became the ninth best-selling album in Taiwan in the year 2009.

Jerry became the first Taiwanese artist to win 鈥淏est International Artist鈥� which was presented by the Best Jeans Awards. He also won 鈥淎sia鈥檚 Most Popular Singer鈥� which was presented by the South East Music Chart Awards.

4. He Released His Debut Solo Album- Jerry for You In 2004

In the year 2004, Jerry released his first solo album which was known as, Jerry for you. In the same year, Jerry鈥檚 album was awarded among the “Top 10 Selling Mandarin Albums of the Year” at the Album Sales Awards which was presented by the IFPI Hong Kong branch.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is an organization which is responsible for representing the interests of the recording industry worldwide. The non-profit organization is registered in Switzerland and was founded in Italy in the year 1933.

The same year Jerry Yan also won the “Best Album” and also the 鈥淏est Newcomer”. For the Hong Kong/Taiwan region awards which were presented by the China Top Music Awards.

5. He Acted in the First Taiwanese Drama Imported by Japan for Broadcast

In the year 2006, Jerry Yan starred in the Taiwanese drama The Hospital. The Hospital later became the first Taiwanese series to be imported by Japan鈥檚 NHK for broadcast purposes.

The Nippon H艒s艒 Kyokai is a Japan Broadcasting Corporation and a Japanese public broadcaster. It is statutory and was funded by viewers鈥� payments of a television license fee.

6. He Starred in Sports Film in 2008

7. Yan Played a Key Role in the Romantic Comedy Drama, Count Your Lucky Stars

In the year 2020, Yan was in a mainland Chinese television series together with Shen Yue. They Starred in one of the best romantic dramas, Count Your Lucky Stars.

In this drama, Jerry Yan was well known as Lu Xingcheng. He acted as the editor-in-chief of a well-recognized magazine. Despite his arrogance that makes him well known,  Lu Xingcheng (Jerry Yan) was considered an expert in the world of fashion. He also became a very lucky man for everything he wanted.

8. He Starred in the Romance Melodrama Loving, Never Forgetting

In 2014 Jerry Yan Starred in a romantic drama which was based on the novel Wu Ai Cheng. The novel was written by lan Bai Se. In this romantic drama, Jerry Yan acted as Li Zhongmou who was a rich businessman.

He happened to have a one-night stand with Wu Tong (Tong Liya) a few years ago but later after the one-night stand, Jerry forgot about her. Later, in an accident a young boy was injured; and after it was verified, the young boy was his son.

9. He was a Member of the Boy Band Group F4

The boy band group was also known as JVKV. It was a Taiwanese boy band and the members of the group included Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou. The group was formed after the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden in the year 2001 when they starred and became very successful.

They have all Starred in several dramas and series in Taiwanese. The group managed to sell 3.5 million copies Since July 2003 of their first albums across Asia.

10. He made a Special Appearance in the Comedy, Our Times

In the year 2015, Yan made a special appearance in the Taiwanese teen romantic comedy-drama film, Our Times. It was directed by Frankie Chen. The film marked the directorial debut of Chen, who had previously directed television dramas.

The film stars were Vivian Sung and Lin Truly who acted as ordinary school girls. Darren Wang acted as Hsu Tai-yu, who was the school鈥檚 most notorious gang leader. Dino Lee acted as Fei-Fan and was the school’s most popular male student.

Jerry Yan acts as a role model to many and mostly upcoming or newcomers in film production. He has been very hardworking and determined to achieve more in his career as well as mentor the young generations.
