Raohe street market was established in 1987 after Jaohe Street became a secondary road and the commercial activities in the area went into a sharp decline.

1. Raohe Street Night Market is conveniently located

The market is 600 meters in length, and it is literally right outside the Songshan railway and MRT station exit. This makes the market very convenient for visitors who come from all parts of the city and other parts of Taiwan.
Songshan is a railway and metro station in Taipei, served by the Taiwan Railway and Taipei metro trains. The station is also connected to the shopping center located at basement 1 and level 1 of the station’s building.

Just inside the east entrance of the Raohe street night market, the black pepper bun is the only item on the menu at one of the most famous stalls at Raohe. It is one of the most popular street food in Taiwan, a mix of sesame seed buns filled with layers of peppered pork and green onions.
Black pepper burn is a type of baked bun that originated in the city of Fuzhou, the capital of China’s Fujian province. The snack is very popular in Taiwan and is commonly available in all-night markets or mini food stalls throughout Taiwan.

A tour at Raohe street market is not complete without paying a visit to the Mountain bear sausage stall. Sausages are a key component of Taiwanese cuisine.
The Mountain boar sausage stall is located just outside the west entrance, and it is very popular for its sausages made of mountain boar meat. The boars are raised in the mountains south of Taipei, near the famous Wulai hot springs.
They are grilled on an open fire and then cut and flavored according to the customer’s specifications. Salty brown sauces and chili sauces are also available.

The Ciyou temple was constructed in 1753, and it is a prominent landmark in the area. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Matsu and according to the legends, it was founded by a wandering Matsu monk.
The temple is accessible within walking distance North of Songshan Station, and it attracts thousands of local and foreign visitors every year.

Glass jerry is flavored with tea made from a Chinese plant known as “immortal grass”. It is then oxidized to bring out the black color and sweet flavor with a taste of bitter herbs.

Wufenpu, located just next to the Raohe Street night market, is a gigantic clothing outlet that sells almost everything in the fashion industry. The outlet is very popular with clothing shoppers for its highly discounted prices that are impossible to get anywhere else.
The outlet is open 7 days a week and the business mostly starts at noon and closes well after midnight.
7. Sample Japanese Cuisine at Raohe Street Night Market
Raohe street night market mostly specializes in traditional Chinese cuisines. They consist of vermicelli, spare ribs, pepper meat buns, duck meat, and stinky tofu. There is also a variety of special Japanese cuisine in numerous food stands around the market.
Dorayaki found at the Dorayaki food stall in the market is one the most popular Japanese food in Taiwan.
It is a Japanese confection that consists of two small pancake-like patties made from castella wrapped around a filling of sweet azuki bean paste.
