10 Best Public Swimming Pools in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a city and a special administrative region of China on the eastern Pearl River Delta in South China. And to get out of the sultry heat of Hong Kong, most visitors jump into one of the many awesome outdoor public swimming pools.
Public swimming pools in Hong Kong are managed by the LCSD (Leisure and Cultural Services Department). There are over 44 public swimming pools located in this city. LSCD in recent years has replaced several older facilities with newer pool complexes.

1. Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool
Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool opened in 2001, and any Clearwater Bay residents should have gone here first.
The famous pool is so cool some even say it is a water theme park. It has a total of eight pools; an Olympic-sized main pool, training pool, two teaching pools, a diving pool, a toddler pool and two leisure pools.
There’s a small café with seats under umbrellas to refuel before returning to pool hopping, as well as a lovely sunbathing area.
It also has slides of varying lengths and speeds to accommodate children with varying levels of confidence in the water, ranging from tiny 50 mm pool slides to mega slides.
This pool has been designed to accommodate all swimming abilities and tastes, including fast sliders, lane lappers, and water babies.
2. Kowloon Park Swimming Pool
Opened in 1989, Kowloon Park is one of the largest leisure facilities occupying 3 hectares of land and accommodating up to 1,433 swimmers. It records an annual attendance of 800,000 visitors.
The facility is well-equipped suitable for staging major or international swimming competitions. There are a grand of four pools to help you have a perfect time in training or relaxing. Mega slides are also available creating more of a waterpark feel.
It boasts of three major outdoor leisure pools and a toddler pool, all interconnected with footbridges, rocks and waterfalls. One indoor pool equipped with a diving platform to help you keep up your laps and diving skills in the winter.
A swimming pool that is suitable for both children and adults.
3. Kennedy Town Swimming Pool
Located in a town popularly known as K-town by Hong-Kongers from the Westside, Kennedy Town swimming pool was opened in 2011. The pool replaced an earlier pool of the same name opened in 1974.
Despite being located on 0.8 hectares of land, it has two 50-meter pools, a training pool, a children’s pool, and a jacuzzi. The facility also includes family changing rooms to solve the dilemma of modern families.
There is also regular swim meets held in the indoor pool, complete with a 1,000-seat stand and electronic scoreboards for some face-to-face competition.
The irregular shaped outdoor pool has exceptional views of Victoria Harbour, the harbour known for its panoramic night view and skyline.
4.Pao Yue Kong Swimming Pool
Pao Yue Kong Swimming pool was opened in 1977 and was called Aberdeen Swimming Pool until 1983.
It is an ideal place to go with the whole family as it has a wide variety of pools. It has a main pool, secondary pool, training pool, two teaching pools and a diving pool.
There is also a children’s pool as well as a toddler’s pool, which is ideal for getting the little ones in the water at any age.
5. Victoria Park Swimming Pool
The first Victoria Park Swimming Pool opened in 1957, and 56 years later, in 2013, a second one opened to replace the first. It is centrally located in Hong Kong.
Swimmers have a variety to choose from a 50-by-25-metre main pool, a multi-purpose pool with an adjustable depth floor and a diving platform. The largest swimming pool spectator stands in Hong Kong, which seats 2,500 people is located in this facility.
It’s an especially convenient swimming pool to bring the kids to, with family changing rooms and baby care rooms.
6. Sai Kung Swimming Pool
Sai Kung Swimming Pool was founded in 1992 and is situated nearby Wai Man Road Playground.
This complex includes the main pool with Olympic-sized lanes for pro swimmers, a Teaching pool, a Leisure pool, and a 380-seat spectator stand.
With fountains, water slides, and colourful, fun games, the Sai Kung public swimming pool is outfitted for your little ones to have a good time with the ball!
Unfortunately, it does not have an indoor swimming pool.
7. Morrison Hill Swimming Pool
It was Hong Kong’s first indoor public pool, as well as the city’s first heated public pool. It first opened its doors in 1972.
The swimming complex now has four pools. There is a 50-metre main pool with a 203-seat spectator stand and a smaller training pool indoors. A teaching pool and a toddler’s pool are located on the outdoor pool deck.
It has a snack bar where parents can stock up on snacks while their children swim laps in the large pool. Rows of lounge chairs line the sunbathing area, ideal for sunbathing and flipping through fashion magazines on a leisure day by the pool.
8. Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool
It opened in 1996 and is popular among families with children of all ages.
Their pirate ship with water cannons is a true aquatic attraction, and there are numerous waterslides, fountains, and games for your children to enjoy, so they’re sure to have a good time!
The outdoor pools include not only leisure pools but also a toddler pool for you and your children to enjoy.
9. Jordan Valley Swimming Pool
Jordan Valley Swimming Pool, which opened in 1997, is another popular attraction in the New Territories.
This swimming pool complex is a good choice if you have younger children because it has several features that are well-suited to the smaller swimmer.
There are four leisure pool areas, each with slides, water guns, and other water play equipment. It also has a family restroom.
With its awesome selection of waterslides, 4 leisure pools, animal water toys, and more, this pool is often referred to as a waterpark. The nearby park is ideal for a picnic before or after the event, and it also has a large playground.
10. Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool
It was constructed in two faces and opened in 1981. It is the Sha Tin District’s largest pool complex.
The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club funded the entire $33 million project to commemorate the opening of the nearby Sha Tin Racecourse.
It features a large number of lanes as well as electronic scoreboards. There is also a children’s pool and family changing rooms where you can easily manage your infant.
Many of the New Territories swimming teams compete in the main pool.
