Faf du Plessis was born on 13 July 1984. His birth name is Francois du Plessis. He is a South African professional and former captain of the South African national cricket team. He is one of the greatest fielders of all time. He is also among the best all-formatbatsmen in his era.

1. He is one of the most successful captains in his era
He is the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the India Premier League. He is a right-handed batsman and part-time leg-spin bowler. He has a winning percentage of 73.68 in ODIs.
He is the first international captain to defeat Australia in all three formats in the game, in Both the Home and Away test series, and a 5-0 win in a five-match series whitewash.
2. He has the best 21st-century Test performance in Australia
Du Plessis’ test performance in the 2012 Adelaide test is judged as the best test battling performance by any batsman. The record by du Plessis was never made on Australian soil since 2000. This made the performance to be the best 21st-century test performance in Australia.
3. He is the fourth South African to make a Test century on debut
Du Plessis made his international debut in January 2011 against India. It was during a One Day International tournament (ODI). He scored unbeaten 60 runs. He went on to make his Test match debut in November 2012. It was when he became the fourth South African to score a Test century on debut.
4. He was one of the four uncapped players named in the 2011 World Cup
Du Plessis made his ODI debut on 18 January 2011 against India and made unbeaten 60 runs. He was chosen ahead of Albie Morkel for the 2011 World cup for the Indian sub-continent, a physiographical region in Southern Asia.

It was during his international career when du Plessis was found guilty of two times ball-tampering The first time was during The Oval Test match in 2013 against Pakistan. du Plessis was caught on video rubbing the ball against a zip on his trousers in order to change the nature of the ball. He was fined 50% of his match fee.
In 2016, du Plessis again was caught again ball-tampering during the Hobart match against Australia. He was caught rubbing the ball against something that looked like a mint on the ball in order to make one sie sticky. He pleaded not guilty and was defended by his teammate Hashim Amla.
Despite the denials by du Plessis, he was found guilty of ball-tampering on 21 November 2021. He was fined 100% of his match fee for the second Test against Australia. He was also given three demerit points
7. He is a racism-free person
Du Plessis released a statement via Instagram showing support for the Black Lives Matter movement. This was following the request of fellow Protea player Lungi Ngidi. Lungi Ngidi wanted Cricket South Africa to be vocal about the movement and to address racism in cricket.
Du Plessis stated, ” I acknowledge that South Africa is still hugely divided by racism and it is my personal responsibility to do my best to emphasize, hear the stories, learn, and then be part of the solution with my thoughts, words, and actions…All lives don’t matter UNTIL black lives matter…”
8. He is a family guy
Du Plessis married his girlfriend Imari Visser on 23 November 2013 at Kleine Zalze. The two had dated for a long time as girlfriend and boyfriend sort of staff and so it was worth their investment and commitment in their relationship.
Imari Visser is a photographer and is currently working as a marketing assistant at Nimue Skin Technology. The family was blessed with a child Amelie du Plessis in 2017. In 2020 they were also blessed with another baby girl.
