Emily Irene VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986. She is a Canadian actress. She first came to prominence for her work with producer Greg Berlanti, who cast her as a series regular on The WB drama Everwood (2002–2006) and the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters (2007–2010).

VanCamp gained further recognition by portraying the lead role of Emily Thorne on the ABC series Revenge from 2011 to 2015. From 2018 to 2021, VanCamp starred in the Fox medical drama series The Resident. In the article the top ten facts about Emily VanCamp.

1. Her father is an animal nutritionist

VanCamp’s father is called Robert VanCamp. He specializes in animal nutrition, which is especially concerned with the dietary needs of animals in captivity: livestock, pets, and animals in wildlife rehabilitation facilities. Her first job was working for him, delivering food to clients in and around her hometown.

VanCamp started to dance at age three. At age 11, she wanted to become a professional dancer and convinced her parents to let her attend a summer training program in Montreal. When she was 12, she was accepted to the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, the training program of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. She then moved in with a local French-Canadian family.

3. When did VanCamp arouse interest in acting?

To be exclusive, around 1998, Vancamp got interested in acting. This was after she visited her sister Katie on the set of the film Ladies Room. She started taking acting classes on Saturday afternoons, after which she found an agent.

After working on a few commercials she was cast in the second part of a special three-part episode of the Canadian children’s horror anthology television series Are You Afraid of the Dark? called “The Silver Sight”. In the horror series, she played opposite 17-year-old Elisha Cuthbert. VanCamp’s character was present in one scene and did not speak any dialogue. So she was a silent actor.

4. In 1999 VanCamp got a major role in acting

VanCamp got a role as a teenage Jackie Bouvier in the Emmy-nominated CBS TV movie Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and a guest spot on the YTV sitcom Radio Active. The following year in 199, the release of her first theatrical film, the lesbian-themed drama Lost and Delirious, in which she played a supporting role as Jessica Paré’s sister.

She was also featured in another television guest spot in an episode of the short-lived medical horror series All Souls, where she played a hit-and-run victim with spinal trauma. VanCamp also had roles in the miniseries Dice, directed by Rachel Talalay, and in the TV film Redeemer, directed by Graeme Clifford, which aired in early 2002.

5. VanCamp’s breakthrough in acting came at age 15

This was when she was cast as Sam Dolan, a series regular role, in the WB mid-season show Glory Days known in Europe as Demontown, the third TV series from Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson. The horror mystery received mildly positive reviews, but was a rating disappointment and was cancelled after nine episodes.

VanCamp’s performance as the lead character’s younger sister caught the eye of former Dawson’s Creek writer Greg Berlanti. Her performance reminded him of Katie Holmes, and he did want to work with her.

6. VanCamp starred in the independent drama The Girl in the Book

The Girl in the Book is a 2015 American drama film written and directed by Marya Cohn in her directorial debut. The film stars Emily VanCamp, Michael Nyqvist, David Call, Michael Cristofer, Talia Balsam and Ana Mulvoy-Ten. The Girl in the Book garnered a positive reception from critics who praised VanCamp’s performance and Cohn’s direction of her script.

Based on a true story, the film centres on VanCamp’s character Alice, a 28-year-old assistant book editor and aspiring writer. To fund its post-production, the film’s producers launched a crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign on June 17, 2013, which surpassed its $65,000 goal on July 1.

7. She starred in the French-Canadian independent drama Boundaries

The film’s central characters are Emily Price (Emily VanCamp), Danielle Richard (Macha Grenon) and Félixe Nasser-Villeray (Nathalie Doummar). The film’s plot focuses on Félixe a newly elected Canadian Member of Parliament.

He is part of a delegation to the small island nation of Besco to negotiate Canadian investment in the struggling nation’s mining industry. Danielle is the country’s president, and Emily is a mediator involved in the investment talks.

8. Did VanCamp forget about dancing?

Joshua Tobias Bowman is an English actor best known for his role as Daniel Grayson in ABC’s Revenge. At the age of 18, Bowman was briefly a professional rugby player for Saracens F.C., before suffering two shoulder dislocations in his first year and being asked to leave. Bowman studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.

Bowman began dating his Revenge co-star Emily VanCamp in late 2011. The couple became engaged on 11 May 2017 and married on 15 December 2018 in The Bahamas. The couple announced the birth of their first child, daughter Iris, in August 2021.

10. VanCamp was cast as the female lead in the Fox medical drama The Resident

The Resident is an American medical drama television series that premiered on January 21, 2018, on Fox as a mid-season replacement for the 2017–18 television season. Based on the book Unaccountable by Marty Makary, the series focuses on the lives and duties of staff members at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, while delving into the bureaucratic practices of the hospital industry.

VanCamp was cast as nurse practitioner Nic Nevin, whose character has a complicated romantic history and relationship with the main character Conrad Hawkins, played by Matt Czuchry.
