Just days before his tragic death, The Beatles guitarist and Fab Four member George Harrison wrote a letter to Austin Powers director Mike Myers expressing his admiration for his work.

It’s a connection that would keep Myers happy to this day.

The letter, which would go on record as the final note ever written by the ‘Quiet Beatle’, was never mailed out to Myers but was subsequently passed on to the filmmaker who, coincidentally, ended up receiving the letter on the day Harrison passed away.

Harrison has complimented him for his Austin Powers movies and has asked him for a Mini-Me doll.

He had the letter framed and claims it to be one of the most incredible things that have ever happened to him.

Michael Myers is no stranger to appearing in things outside of the big screen. Whether it’s appearing in books or in comics, it seems like Michael Myers can be virtually anywhere.

This extends to the video game world, as well, specifically in the game Call Of Duty: Ghosts.

In that game, Michael Myers appears during the map pack “Onslaught” as a playable character. Specifically appearing during fog, players are able to play as the killer by completing the field orders and then getting the care package.

After graduating from high school, Myers was accepted into The Second City Canadian touring company.

He moved to the United Kingdom and in 1985 he was one of the founding members of The Comedy Store Players, an improvisational group based at The Comedy Store in London.

The Comedy Store Players were born on October 17th 1985, at the old Leicester Square venue. The team that night was Kit Hollerbach, Dave Cohen, Neil Mullarkey and Mike Myers.

They were only allowed to do the second half of the show – the first half was stand-up because it was felt that an audience would have to be lured to see a show where there was no script.

This turned out to be true. Less than twenty people turned up for that debut performance.

4. Mike Myers was Cast in Saturday Night Live for 6 years

Myers began appearing on Saturday Night Live on January 21, 1989, and eventually became the first repertory player added to the show’s cast in over two years.

He quickly became one of the show’s biggest draws thanks to his talent for creating oddball characters with memorable catchphrases.

In addition to “Wayne’s World” and “Sprockets”, Myers starred in the recurring sketches “Lothar of the Hill People”, “Stuart Rankin, All Things Scottish”, “Lank Thompson”, “Middle-Aged Man”, “Simon”, “Coffee Talk with Linda Richman”, “Theatre Stories”, “Phillip the Hyper Hypo”, and “Scottish Soccer Hooligan Weekly”.

Myers’s last episode as a cast member aired on January 21, 1995 (exactly six years to the day after his first episode aired).

He returned to host in 1997 and made an appearance as his movie character Dr. Evil in 2014.

Mike Myers is a household name when it comes to comedy in Hollywood. He is not only an actor but also a comedian, director, producer, and screenwriter.

Myers began performing in commercials at two years old. At the age of 10, he made a commercial for British Columbia Hydro, with Gilda Radner playing his mother.

At 12, he made a guest appearance as Ari on the TV series King of Kensington.

When he was 16 years old, Mike became the guest star of The Littlest Hobo TV series Season 1 Episode 10 titled “Boy On Wheels.”

6. Mike Myers is the Voice of Shrek

In 2001, Mike Myers provided the voice of Shrek in the DreamWorks animated film of the same name, having taken over the role after originally planned voice actor Chris Farley died in December 1997.

What would Shrek be without his Scottish accent? Can you even imagine it? but Mike Meyers very nearly never got the chance to play Shrek.

The producers hired comedian Chris Farley, who recorded upwards of 90% of the movie’s dialogue before passing away without completing the role.

Rather than bring in an actor to voice match Farley, DreamWorks recast the role completely with another Saturday Night Live alumni with a hit film track record.

Meyers insisted on extensive script rewrites to scrub away any traces of Farley’s interpretation of the character. His performance clarified plot points and put new spins on much of the comedy.

He also lent his voice to the Shrek films, portraying the title character. The first film won the Oscar for “Best Animated Feature Film” and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

It was also nominated and awarded the People’s Choice award in 2002. Shrek grossed a total of $478 million worldwide.

7. His Father was his Inspiration

The inspiration for Myers’s Austin Powers megabucks franchise was his late father, who introduced him to comedians such as Peter Sellers, Monty Python, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

“My dad was a guy who loved to be silly; he had a highly prized sense of humour.

When I would bring friends home to play table hockey in the basement, if my dad didn’t think they were funny, he wouldn’t let them in the house,”

It’s the British sense of humour that Canadian Myers inherited from his Liverpool-born father that has made him such a success.

His Austin Powers, the swinging photographer by day and International Man of Mystery by night, is the living embodiment of everything Americans think an Englishman ought to be.

He tells corny sex jokes, has dubious taste in fashion and has the knack of saying the wrong thing at precisely the wrong time.

For Myers, Austin Powers has become an emotional bond to his late father, the inspiration for his inventively coarse sense of humour. Gold member is a heartfelt tribute from son to father.

8.  Mike Myers has authored a Book

Mike Myers is a world-renowned actor, director and writer, and the man behind some of the most memorable comic characters of our time.

But as he says: “no description of me is truly complete without saying I’m a Canadian.”

In 2016 Mike Myers published a book, Canada, about the country’s history and popular culture.

His hilarious and heartfelt book is part memoir, part history and pure entertainment.

It is Mike Myers’ funny and thoughtful analysis of what makes Canada Canada, Canadians Canadians and what being Canadian has always meant to him.

Myers is in a unique position to explore Canada from within and without. With this, his first book, Mike brings his love for Canada to the fore at a time when the country is once again looking ahead with hope and national pride.

This beautifully designed book is illustrated in colour (and not colour) throughout, and its visual treasures include personal photographs and Canadiana from the author’s own collection.

9. His Kind of Humour is not Everyone’s cup of Tea

He may be very successful and very rich, but Myers’s zany humour isn’t to everyone’s tastes.

He picked up a Razzie ‘Worst Actor’ nomination in 2004 for The Cat in the Hat, while his 2008 stinker The Love Guru earned him the ‘Worst Actor’, ‘Worst Screenplay’ and ‘Worst Film’ titles.

The only movie to take home more Razzie gongs that year was 鶹APP Hilton’s unforgettably atrocious The Hottie and the Nottie.

In any case, he has slightly geekish hobbies. The Austin Powers funnyman has confessed that one of his favourite past times is building and painting toy soldiers.

10.  Mike Myers has a street Named for Him

You know you have made it when you have a street named after you, and Mike has such an accolade in Scarborough, Ontario. If you ever pay the area a visit, check out Mike Myers Drive.

Mike Myers had a street in Scarborough named after him in 2002.

The community council agreed unanimously yesterday that a new street near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Lawrence Avenue should be named for the actor, who was born and raised in Scarborough.

Fittingly, the street traces a shagadelic path between Kennedy and Lawrence that is almost as warped as the sense of humour that has infused Mr. Myers’s best-known movies, Wayne’s World and the Austin Powers spy spoofs.

He brought his Austin Powers costar Verne Troyer to the film The Love Guru along with several big names, including Justin Timberlake, Jessica Alba, and Ben Kingsley.

Despite all that star power, the movie flopped hard. Against a budget of $62 million (which doesn’t count the cost of advertising), the movie only brought in a worldwide gross of $40 million and change.

It’s been roughly a decade since The Love Guru bombed, but Myers hasn’t done much on the big screen since and it isn’t hard to imagine why studios might still be gun-shy about handing Myers the reins to a major movie.
