Bulgaria is known for its variety of scenery and relaxing resorts that attract many visitors. Besides that, it is known for having many actors, actresses, singers, and many more that have changed the name of the country.
1. 100 Kila
Yavor Dimitrov Yanakiev was born on 16 May 1985, he is better known by his stage named 100 kila. He is a Bulgarian rapper, actor, songwriter, and entrepreneur. His musical career began after meeting prominent Bulgarian rapper Big Sha.
He was immediately signed to his record label R&B Records and enjoyed several successful years on the label.
He has participated in the first season of the Bulgarian version of the show The Mole. In 2015, he joined Sofia Residents in Excess cast for season 9.
2. Alexander Raytchev
He is a Bulgarian classical pianist and composer who lives in Germany. He was awarded numerous prizes and won the Performance of the Year contest with the Sofia Radio Orchestra.
He is known for being keen on projects in literature and music. In 2004, Alexander is the Sofia Symphonic Orchestra’s first soloist guest. His influence extends from multimedia concerts for the Planetarium Hamburg.
He is part of various chamber music ensembles with singers from the Staatsoper Hannover and musicians of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
3. Alexis Weissenberg

He was a Bulgarian- born French pianist. He gave piano master’s classes all over the world, he had notable students in his Piano Master’s class. He composed piano music and a musical Nostalgie, which premiered at the State Theatre of Darmstadt.
Some of his notable interpretations were those of Johannes Brahm’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Piano Concerto No. 3, and Seiji Ozawa with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
4. Andrea
Teodora Rumenova Andreeva was born on January 23, 1987, she is better known by her stage name Andrea. She is a Bulgarian pop-folk singer, songwriter, and video director.
She was part of the famous group Sahara together with the Romanian Grammy Awards nominated producer Costi Ionta. Their first song was distributed by Yellow Productions and the Ministry of Sound Australia.
The track was on the top charts of Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. She left the group and started her solo career. In 2012, she joined the biggest music company in Romania Roton Music.
She has won over 30 awards such as the Balkan Star award at the Beogradski Pobednik in Belgrade, European Performer of the Year at the Kraljevski festival in Kraljevo, and Balkan Star award at the Montefolk Awards in Montenegro.
5. Angela Tosheva
Born on 15 June 1961 in Sofia, she is a Bulgarian freelance pianist, chamber musician, piano and chamber music pedagogue, and editor. As a performer, she had numerous solo and chamber music concerts in Bulgaria.
She has performed in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Ireland, Norway, France, Italy, Russia, and Turkey. She even led an international master class in Bordeaux, France.
In 1997, she was invited by the Sao Paula University Music Department to render a seminar on contemporary music. She even performed twelve concerts for contemporary and classical music.
She has received many awards including the International competition in Salerno 1978. She was awarded the Golden Feather award from Classic FM Sofia radio.
6. Azis
Vasil Troyanov Boyanov was born on March 7, 1978, he is professionally known as Azis. He is a Bulgarian recording artist of Romani ethnicity. He rose to prominence in Eastern Europe by performing songs mostly in Chalga.
He collaborated with other Bulgarian pop-folk singers such as Gloria, Malina, Sofi Marinova, Toni Storaro, and Bulgarian rap artists.
7. Boris Christoff
He was a Bulgarian opera singer who was widely considered one of the greatest basses of the 20th century. He is known for having an excellent voice with a distinctive dark tone. Boris’ stage presence was amazing and was worthy of all the praise.
He sang mostly in Verdi and the Russian repertoire, he also refined performer of vocal chamber music. He made studio recordings of eight operas and numerous live recordings.
He is admired as a song singer and he has recorded more than 200 Russian songs as well as traditional songs and piano accompaniment.
8. Christina Morfova
She was a Bulgarian operatic soprano who gained fame from her performances in Prague, Sofia. She was a member of the Sofia National Opera until 1935, she also taught at the Bulgarian Academy of Music.
In the 1920s, she sang in Germany, Italy, Âé¶¹APP, and London. After she returned to Sofia, she joined the Sofia National Opera. She has performed in some 40 different roles including Aida, Queen of the Night, Mignon, Butterfly, and Violetta.
Her vocal range was enough to get her both soprano and mezzo-soprano parts.
9. Daniel Spassov
He is a Bulgarian singer and performer of Bulgarian folklore songs and church music. He has taken part in many concerts across Bulgarian solo concerts as a soloist of the world-famous choir.
His voice is heard in many documentary films, and TV art programs that introduce Bulgaria’s cultural and historical heritage. In 2012 he received an invitation to take part in the International film production Dervishes- Mystics of the East.
In 1994, he was included in the World encyclopedia Music of the world that was published in London. He was again recognized in 2014 when he was awarded the honorable sign of the Ministry of culture.
10. Desi Slava’
Desislava Ivanova Doneva was born on 7 March 1979, she is known as her stage names Desi Slava. She is a Bulgarian singer-songwriter and producer. Her first stage appearance began at an early age and she would win awards at festivals.
She was noticed by one of the most famous Bulgarian folklore singers of all time, Valkana Stoyanova. She was coached and taught all the ways of Valkana. She even signed with the biggest music company in Bulgaria, Payner.
Through the company, she released a lot of songs. She left the company in 2003 and she began her solo career and 2004 she founded her own company New Music Stars.
She has won a lot of awards during her career, some of them were the 2009 Nov Folk Magazine Award, 2011 Radio Romantica award for Eternal ballad, 2012 Radio Romantica Award for best voice, and 2013 Radnevo award.
